i too fell for this scam as the original poster. the difference is that i am in vancouver in canada, so this scam made its way over here also. same process that happened with the original poster experience. i bought the itunes cards, took pictures front and back and send to them to show that i purchased them. but i did not scratch the back code. they got frustrated and kept telling me to give them the code. told them i would give the code to the mei mei, but they kept giving me crap about 1st time and have to make sure its real bla bla bla.
i turned it around and gave them ultimatum. 'you want the card, then give me the girl, if not i am walking.' they kept persisting to give them the codes, so i end up walking away. i turned around and sold the cards online for a bit of a loss, but at least not total loss. small loss for lesson learned. now, when i see same pattern from other wechat 'girls,' i report them to wechat and hope to cause them trouble. hope nobody else gets fooled, and think with your big heads.

i think such scams have been in existence for very long.
why do people still fall into such traps?

It amaze me how so many still fall for such scams? If you are a seasoned enough cheongster, you will know the last thing to do is transact money before the deal is done, even worse didn't even meet up. Even if meeting up, if FL ask for money first, don't even entertain them, cos 10x out of 10, you will end up with fuck up service.
Such scams are popularly used in TAGGED, guess this cheenas are learning a thing or two from the pinoy in TAGGED. Same MO, pic of gorgeous looking chic. After adding them as friend they will msg you and tell you to send money through WU before they can meet and the usual crap. Well the minute they pull this stunt i tell them to FUCK OFF back to pinoy land and chances are they are scamming you from there.

In the end that scammer banned me. Lol.

My friend got into this scam too, he bought 3x 100 iTunes cards and provided all the information, then asking to transfer additional 1k via bank.
At the end, 300 gone. He saved some detail not willing to share all, just knew that he got threatened, how and what method not so sure.
