Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
For all Pool bros who may be worried that OUR Rafa will leave for Bayern... or any other club, for that matter...
BENITEZ QUASHES BAYERN TALK Jimmy Rice 19 November 2007 Rafa Benitez today laughed off rumours that he may consider a move to Bayern Munich. Speculation at the weekend suggested the German giants were ready to launch an audacious move for the Spaniard. However, the Liverpool boss insists he plans to be at Anfield for many years to come – regardless of who comes in for his services. "I heard about the rumours at the weekend and it is always flattering to be linked with other big clubs because it must mean you are doing something right," he said. "But even if I was approached I would tell whichever club it was that I am really happy with MY club, MY squad, MY supporters and MY city. "There are still many things which I want to do here so I am planning on being here for a long time." (Extracted from www.liverpoolfc.tv) YNWA Rafa...

Don't think Rafa will leave before he finally delivers no.19 to us ,provided G & H give him the backings he needs. The only club that can lure him away is Real Madrid.

The interview was on Liverpool FC TV. So not surprised by his answer.
I am a pool fan too, just hope we can put a string of good results together to rebuild the confidence of the team.

Re: Liverpool Fc - Torres joy at Liverpool life
Torres joy at Liverpool life
Published: 19 Nov 2007 http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle481807.ece FERNANDO TORRES says he is loving life in England. The Spanish hitman has settled in well since his £21.5million summer move from Atletico Madrid. And Torres revealed that the honesty of English football has impressed him. He said: "It is football you can really enjoy - I certainly have since I arrived in England. "It is what I would call an honest type of football. "The game in Spain is stop and go. "Someone is fouled, the player goes down and the game stops for the free-kick. "In this country a player will battle hard to stay on his feet and the referees will allow little things to go so that the game can be more continuous. "I like that - it is very different to Spain. I watched a lot of English football before I arrived so it was not completely new to me. "But you cannot really know what you are going to experience until you have stepped on to the pitch in a match. "But it suits the way I like to play." |

Re: Liverpool Fc - Rafa: Title better than Euro Cup
Rafa: Title better than Euro Cup
By VIKKI ORVICE Published: Today RAFA BENITEZ has targeted the title this season — not the Champions League. Benitez’s team thrashed Turkish side Besiktas 8-0 in their last Group A clash to keep their qualification hopes alive. But after 17 years without an Anfield title, the Kop boss wants to show his team is up there with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea by adding the Premier League to his list of honours. Keep local players Benitez, whose team won the Champions League two years ago and lost in the final last May, said: “The priority for this season is the Premier League — and we’re in a better position to do that this season than before. “When you’ve won the Champions League, FA Cup, Community Shield and Super Cup, people ask what about the Premier League? That’s normal. “When I signed, the team wasn’t winning much. The problem was we started to win them in the first year. 2006 JOY ... for Gerro and Rafa “To play seven finals and win four trophies is not bad in three years. But if we need to win only one, then the Premier League is the priority.” Benitez has hit back at calls for a quota of foreign players. Skipper Steven Gerrard is among those backing the idea. But his boss said: “We are trying to keep the local players. They show the rest what the passion means. “But balance is the key. If you have 20 local players with quality to win trophies, then perfect. If you don’t, you need to bring in foreign players.” Benitez has also snubbed Bayern Munich’s advances and insisted: “I’m going nowhere.” The German giants have made inquiries as boss Ottmar Hitzfeld’s second spell is likely to finish when his contract expires at the end of the season. Bayern are desperate for a big-name manager to restore them to former glories. But the Spaniard, who still has "two years" left on his own contract, said: “Even if I was approached I would tell whichever club it was I’m really happy with my club, my squad, my supporters and my city.” http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle482167.ece |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Liverpool co-Chairmen Tom Hicks and George Gillett have today released the following statement.
"We made a significant investment in the playing squad during the summer and desperately want this team to succeed. "There are some very important games coming up in the next couple of weeks and all of us need to focus on winning those games and getting the best out of the players we already have at the club. "We will leave any talk of buying or selling players until we come across to Liverpool in December and sit down with the Manager then." WTF, after the international break, this is what we get plus a Gerrard who was overcome by fatigue Something is not right when the Americans feel that it's necessary to tell Rafa to shut up now. |
