Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Jordan: You did not do badly re transportation to and from Clark to Fields.
300p regular taxi to Fields for 3 of you is the best option. 250p for special service for jeepney from main gate is about market price. Used to be 180p but must have gone up a bit. Do share with us your experience in AC. We can learn from your good and bad experiences.

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Balibago Barangay Captain Tony Mamac
Cheongsters to AC should take note of this guy, he will be the man pulling the strings when the new Angeles City Ordinance comes into effect 1st January 2012. All businesses involved in the adult entertainment industry MUST be accredited to an organisation to remain in business. Establishments in the Balibago, Perimeter, Friendship and Malabanias areas will come under the City Entertainment Zone Association (CEZA) under the authority of Capt. Tony Mamac. The payment of dues will be based on the number of waitresses and dancers each bar has on their payroll. Essentially it breaks down to about 150 pesos per employee per month. Captain Mamac wants this new organization to succeed and bring "peace" to the City. He has the full support from the Mayor and the Law Enforcement agencies. He also wants to have transparency in how the "dues" are collected and exactly where the money is going. Let's all hope and pray this guy dun turn out to be another "Alfredo Lim". |

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
Talking about India.. My 10c..
A swathe of customs officers greet you on arrival until you dunno... Who is the real customs officer with power cause you gotta answer each n everyone until u loose ur cool n ask them... " how many more ppl do i hv to answer".....!!!!!!! This is now..... Imagine the india 25 years back.... Gosh.... Or even 32 years back approx wen the Govt of India kicked COCA COLA and most other foreign brands out of the country with a stroke of a pen. I think ST reported you must pay a bribe of S$ 20 to get a BC in IndiA. Violent crime/rape/terrorism.... I remember the days wen 50 over ppl died in punjab and since death n killings were everyday ppl asked "only 50 died?" Now that i remember india so well i dun think i must be worried about.22mm Those days in Punjab n J & K Ak47 rifles were the norm... 20 yrs back.... Oops if this is not enuf... U hv regular molestations of women in busses n trains. Try the LOcals (our mrt) in bombay or the over crowded busses anywhere in the country Even today most women would prefer to stay in their homes after 9pm unless you have male members to protect you. Even better reservation on trainsmeans nothing... Cause there will be ppl still boarding a full train. INdIA TODAY is brutal, ruthless and mercenary where only money power and connections talk....Land grabbing abounds and practically everyone is corrupt (compulsions of coalition ? ) |

Re: Angeles City (Balibago) Tips
I was in India 2 years ago, and Chennai and Bangalore are a far cry from what they were years ago.
And airports are bribery free, and if you are stuck in a customs counter for more than 1 minute an officer walks over and asks the customs fellow what's wrong .. unlike before where every bag was literally ransacked with the ruse of finding contraband, and a lot of things get left behind conveniently when the bag is stuffed back .. only random checks happen. (I was told that smuggling has gone out of fashion with the more open economy that nobody bothers to bring in things that Customs can hold and ask for bribe .. ) Actually when I was in both Bangalore and Chennai, my bags were not opened, when I went and when I returned. add to it the dozens of domestic flights .. well, they are pretty busy to bother asking for a bribe .. and with the last 5 years of tele-expose of officials caught on camera, officials are terrified of even suggesting bribe. And there were even videos of police officers crying when they were caught and the anti corruption police were notified. And I had to spend exactly less than a minute at Immigration both ways, and customs was just a chalk mark .. no more .. And yes, the population is there, but the country has found a way to become more civilised .. of course, the 'national heritage' of ogling at women, or trying to 'jack' (poke your hand into women's breast) stil exists, but to a lesser extent And with the new found people power, there is this feeling of 'catch a corrupt official' theme going on .. Unlike the Philippines, with "PEOPLE POWER" they are busy digging themselves backwards, from trying to vote Estrada to power and endorsing Marcos' family and defending the Late Ferdinand Marcos' possibly burial as a soldier with full military honor. Not that I am defending the Indian pride, but .. seriously, every time I visit Manila, especially T1, and the areas around Malate and almost everywhere except Makati proper, they are still a mirror image of India 20 years or so ago .. and it only seem to get worse .. Oh, do some look up on Philippines news, you will see that more than half the news is about resurgence of NPA, MILF .. I don't see brighter skies ahead .. sorry to vent my thoughts ..
