Just came back from AC. total 3 nights AC, 1 night Subic. Ovrrall, things are getting really expensive in AC. some BF increased as high as 25%. Previously 2k, now 2.5k.

Subic generally bf is cheaper 1.5K. but mostly all ST and alot ugly. AC also start to operate similar openly say willing to stay till 3am etc.

My friend found a gem along perimeter, 5pm bf until 10am. Wanted to go back, take her the next day until i heard my friend do raw. i sianz and skipped her.

For best value, i recommend people to start digging along Perimeter. Skip bf along walking street. There a new bar called Orange near Lost in Asia. Interesting Korean dance worth taking a look. But many Cherry girl there, so dun waste ladies drink money on cherry. Ask waitress.

Overall, I will only go walking streets to ssrr. Horny? Go perimeter! Sick of sky trax and high society? Try Juliana for some high class ktv lounge service, but girls not allowed to bf.

Btw, the word is out that there will be weekly "raids" beginning now until April due to Obama's coming visit to the PI. There may even be a really BIG operation to clean up Fields & Perimeter as I understand that the former Clark/Subic bases are on the President's itinery. All the bars are really careful now and keeping their noses close to the ground for any available intel.

Investigators said the victim, Her Tae Suk, 65, was walking toward the Prism Hotel on Clarkview Avenue with three other Koreans at 7:45 p.m. when the assailants approached them. One of the men then drew a 9-mm pistol and shot Her several times.
Police have yet to determine what prompted the attack.
Her’s companions -– Lee Jae Woo, 37; Jung Jon Gik, 37; and Park Jeung Keun, 37 -– were unhurt and were able to run away when the shooting started.
The Korean Community Association of Central Luzon, which has offices at “Korean Town,” a district on the Fil-Am Friendship Highway where most Koreans in the city live, has been airing its concern about criminals victimizing South Koreans living in this city and other parts of the region.
Last month, two men on a motorcycle shot and wounded a Korean. The killers took $20,000 the Korean had withdrew from a bank in Angeles City.

I guess the best advise for people coming to Clark or anywhere in the Philippines: err on the side of caution. A little paranoia could save you.
Unlike most SEAsian cities, access to guns here is easier unlike those in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia or even Indonesia (?). And some of the criminals here are called Senators, Congressmen, Mayors or Governors

Was aware of this incident...... just didn't want to post due to the nature and background of the case. Not good to get involved in the Mafia's affairs.

The victim is not a tourist as made out by the media but an underworld figure. The reason he was in AC was to collect some debts from a fellow Korean who had fled Korea to take refuge in the PI. This fugitive is now a businessman in AC and part of the Mafia setup running KoreaTown. I understand that the amount sought after was US$1 million and he rather take out the collectors than pay the debt.

I would venture to say that these underworld figures would be the least of your problems as they only deal with their own kinds. The Koreans are known to keep to themselves and victimize only their own countrymen.

If yours is a legitimate business, you are more likely to be approached by the "legal" gangsters in the form of the Mayor (btw it's not me), corrupt cops, barangay chiefs, City Hall and a host of people representing the "Authorities".

The way to do business in the PI is to have aligned or associated your business with an influential local figure to "protect" your business interests.

Another update from AC.

This one is a bummer which all mongers should read and NOT attempt to do.
There was another raid last night and this time it was Angelwitch bar turn to be targeted. Nothing unusual as these raids are a weekly occurrence that has come to be expected. What was unusual about last night raid was a bar customer was arrested and brought back!! Initial reports were that the owner was detained but now details have come out that it was a customer that was arrested.

The customer was an Australian who was having a drink inside Angelwitch bar when the raid occurred. He finished his drink and paid up and was let out of the bar by the raiding cops. He stupidly waited outside the entrance and refused to move on when told by the cops to get lost. He was then arrested and brought back to station where after 4 hours of "interrogation" he was told he will be charged for drug possession which is punishable by 12 years jail time. He was given a choice of whether to go to court or to pay 50,000p and get out of the PI on the next available flight. He choose to pay and was escorted to his hotel room where the money was handed over and was driven to Manila airport immediately.

The lesson to be learnt here is when the authorities tell you to move, you better get out of there as fast or as far as you can. No point standing up to them as you have no rights here and they can fix you up with any fabricated charges that they want. You are in a lose - lose situation, so just GTFO!!

Don't believe everything you read in that forum. The posts in there are heavily censored by the mods as most of the sponsors are business owners with vested interests. As it is, there is some damage control going on with regards to this post by the victim with several attempted cover-ups and untruths to discredit the poster. What many readers do not realise is the victim is not a raw traveller new to AC. He used to be well known as amongst one of us having been resident in AC for 11 months. His visa expired and he broke up with his pinay fiancée and returned to Australia end of last year. During his residence in AC, he was a regular fixture in the Angelwitch & Roadhouse bars leading some to conclude that he could be the defacto owner of both bars as the staff / managers of the
bars seem to defer to him. He came back to AC only 4 days ago before the raid.

From our sources, it is said the cops brought him back to establish his links with the bars but they changed tack when he became uncooperative. So they drummed up the drug possession scam to extort some money from him. IMO the victim had done nothing out of the ordinary except that he was already targeted by the cops when they went raiding the bars. Could have happened to any of us too.

Big Allen, I think I know you. I frequent to Atlantis whenever I visit Clark. I can Ring The Bell a few times a night in your place... have too many of that T-shirt.. hehehe.

With the economy down the doldrums, men in dire straits tend to do desperate things including armed robberies. Always be aware and alert. I am in charge of security at the Atlantis and we have measures in place to deal with armed gunmen or even riots.
