Will love to see Steward Downing with us too. Joaquim please....
I would love to see Bentley in Liverpool shirt, he is fast, can score goals, and also cross as well....as for Steward Downing, if not wrong, he had already signed a new deal with Boro, and his crossing not as good, my views....

would love Joaquim as well, Valencia not doing well, so there is a high chance both he and Villa will move on.....

I agreed with you on the need for a second scorer, i mean striker, cant always depends on Torres and Gerrard, though they are scoring. Kuyt, hard working but bobo shooter....Crouch, not sure why he is not playing, maybe simply not good enough....or cant fit into the formation....Voronin...well have not see enough of him lately......

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

It will be great to have David Villa at the helm.
Such a classy player, will definitely add more punch to the squad.
We will need a good left midfield player and a fox-in-box striker like Fowler.

4-2-3-1 means that there won't be a place for Crouch while we are leading (frustrating though he didn't come on for the Scum). If Torres is subbed, usually he is replaced by a winger and the Kuyt gets pushed up into attack. I agree it's really tough for Crouch atm. Hope to see him on the field soon and not just get one touch before the whistle blows!

I disagree that we have good right wingers now. We have make-do decent ones. Pennant's crossing is not very accurate. He floats in many passes when he plays but the accuracy of his crosses... like not very good leh. Or maybe it's because Crouch dunno how to head. Benayanoun is good. He can play anywhere in midfield but I think he will be best as the stand-in for Gerrard as the 2nd striker. Benyanoun is quite good at poaching goals so to put him on the right wing is a bit wasted. Babbel's crossing also 50-50 at times.

Maybe it's our system and not due to a lack of good wingers, i dunno... We attack mainly from the center thru Gerrard and Torres these days. We seldom see our strikers in the box long enough for the wingers to cross to a target. Our holding midfielders, Macherano and Alonso, also seldom drift into the box to head in crosses.

Bentley's english so he doesn't need time to get used to EPL. English players tend to have the intensity to last 90 mins and they do tackle hard too. A lot of the foreign players do get overwhelmed by the intensity of the game in england. 1 hard tackle in the early mins and u see them avoiding 50-50 tackles.

I do feel that Crouch will be sold. He's a good player but he may not fit into our system or he may not get enough games to retain his place in the England squad. Bobo Kuyt is a Rafa favourite for his hard running, not his shooting. Kuyt's crosses though are quite good, I think better than Pennant's.

I feel we can win the series against Arsenal. With the injuries and suspensions in Arsenal's squad now, we are better than them in terms of form, quality of players, freshness of players (cos we can rest a few players for these 3 matches while Arsenal have to play with roughly the same team for the 3 matches.)

Backs to the wall 2nd half. Couple of decisions went for us but all to play for at Anfield.

1-1.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

we are lucky to come away with a 1-1 draw, consider that a penalty was not given,i saw the replay again and it should be one.
good to have score an away goal to bring back to Anfiled.
we will proceed to the SF.

now it is back to EPL against the same opponent - Arsenal again.
let hope we can get a good result also.

agreed on this, with this system, on 1 front man will be playing upfront, and with Torres is such form, Crouch will not get any chance. Have always like him, and all the goals he scored, especially those bicycle kicks.

Rumours mentioned Pennant going either boro or villa, source football365.

Looks likely, and also Riise might go too. Kuyt work rate is first class, but not his shooting and first touch, which is very surprising as he is from holland. thought most if not all holland players have great touches, Kuyt rarely kills the ball with his first touch, thus losing afew more seconds before he can shoot or pass effective.

Arsenal have one of the smallest squard among the top few teams, though most of the first teamers are good footballers, and with their schedules, certainly feel Liverpool can win the quarter final, and also win in this sat's league match. hopefully can see Crouch playing more in the next 2 games against Arsenal.

ditch this sat game, the result is really inconsequential to Liverpool...after all the 4th spot is more or less secured and the other "small club" is behind by 5 pts..

Always happy to see Pennant play as he is always full of fire and passion. Agree that Benyanoun is a very good player. Once he settled down he will be a great asset to the team.

We did get a good result from Arsenal this morning with the all important away goal rule. Can see what Rafa is trying to do . For the return leg at Anfield maybe just to frustrate the Gunners and hold them to a goaless draw and we will be thru to the next stage. We must let the Gunners get more than 2 goals from us for the next game.

Looking at this Saturdays match , I think he will be resting some players . Hopefully we can beat them. That will certainly boost our leverl of confidence for the next CL game on Tues.

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

I agreed totally.

Not say the game is of inconsequential importance but Liverpool still have to consolidated the 4th place even though the gap now is 5 pts.
If Liverpool are not careful & slip up during the last 6 games, the toffess will pounce on Liverpool.

Most likely Rafa will rest some players on sat & try to avoid defeat against the gunners. If able to draw wif them this morning, why not sat again. Better still can get all 3 pts at stake.

MASCHERANO SET TO MISS TWO MORE GAMES
Dated 03 April 2008 from Liverpoolfc.tv

Javier Mascherano has been handed a £15,000 fine and a further two match suspension by the Football Association following his sending off at Old Trafford.
The Reds' Argentine midfielder - who missed the derby victory over Everton as a result of his red card against Manchester United - will now also miss this weekend's clash with Arsenal and the home game with Blackburn following a Disciplinary Commission hearing today.

Responding to the announcement from the FA, a Liverpool spokesman said: "Although we received a fair hearing we must now decide whether to appeal on the basis of inconsistency of sentencing for Javier based on past precedents."

Sign...
Liverpool will have to make do without him for the game against the Gunners on sat, he had done a gd job there during the champion league's game. Hope the player who replace him on sat will do a gd job also...

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

For Liverpool, the match against Arsenal this Sat won't matter much. Liverpool are only aiming for fourth this season so no matter whether they win/lose/draw, they should still be able to get the fourth place at the end of the season.

For Arsenal, it is not so straight forward. They still have a chance to win the league so they will have to go all out to beat Liverpool on Sat. If they draw/lose, then their league title hopes will be gone. Thus, I believe that Arsenal will probably be using the same players for the three matches against Liverpool as they will have to go for the two wins.

I believe that Rafa will rest a couple of the players on Sat to preserve them for the Champ League fixture at Anfield. My guess is that Torres and Gerrard will be rested. Alonso may also be rested since he just came back from injury. Crouch will probably play as a lone striker since he is the only striker not to have been used recently.

I think this saturday's game is important. Firstly, remember how we lost to Arsenal 2 times in a row last season or the season before? We wun want to let Arsenal win us this saturday and gain any psychological edge.

2nd, Arsenal's squad is pretty thin with injuries and suspensions. We should rest some players (mascherano sure wun play) and play a very high tempo match. Then rest players like Gerrard, Torres in the 60th min for the next match.

Send in some fresh legs (Voronin, Pennant) whose job is to run the arsenal players ragged. I think it will be difficult for Arsenal's players to play 3 high tempo matches in 1 week, if they don't rotate as much as we do.
