Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
We need a left winger too. Babel's better at forward than at left winger. His crossing is erratic. His shooting and pace is more suited as a striker. With more left backs, maybe we can push Aurelio to left wing. Aurelio's crossing not bad.

I'm quite impressed by Lahm since the WC06, only thing is he is a right footer... But I like tha way he can attack the flanks...
SO is Alonso confirmed gone?? Left wing? Vicente? Right wing Joaquim?? Maybe Liverpool gonna be Valencia of England?

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Villa happy to wait until price is right for Barry Updated: June 16, 2008, 10:32 AM UK Aston Villa have told Liverpool they are under no pressure to sell skipper Gareth Barry until the price is right which will be in the region of at least £18million. Villa boss Martin O'Neill has no need to offload the England midfielder on the cheap because it is understood the deal will have no bearing on his own spending power during the summer. O'Neill, currently working as a TV pundit at the Euro 2008 finals, is believed to be aware of the funds he has at his disposal from club owner Randy Lerner. Reds manager Rafael Benitez has already had three bids rejected by Villa for 27-year-old Barry. And, while it appears inevitable that Barry will move to Anfield, O'Neill will not give the green light until his value of the player is met by Benitez. A source close to Villa said: 'The sale of Barry will have no effect on the plans Martin O'Neill has in place for the summer. Any deal for Barry will be on his and Villa's terms.' Benitez is expected to make a fourth offer during the coming week for Barry. The expected sale of Xabi Alonso to Juventus for a reported £14million may pave the way for what Villa will regard as a more realistic offer for Barry who has been at Villa for 10 years. Is Barry that good? I don't recall much of Barry. Hope to hear more from you all. I just don't like the idea that we are being held to ransom. Mascherano came for a reported 17 million pounds. Torres for a reported 19-25 million pounds. Is Barry, at age 27 years old, worth 18 million pounds? I just hope Rafa has the courage to walk away if the price isn't right. It's not as if there are other clubs competing with us for Barry. |

I agree.. Should Barry is over priced, just forget about him.. I rather we top up more and get a real class winger... We need winger more than a central midfilder...

If Liverpool become Valencia of England, they will play very attractive and control game. Lahm is good, but read afew clubs also looking at him.....if can get him, thats good, he really had a good WC06.

Of course it's pricey but he's their captain and England player. Remember Hargreaves and Carrick cost 18m. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Latest News: Riise Leaves. New Away Jersey is Grey! Riise joins RomaPosted on June 18th, 2008 by Jim Boardman John Arne Riise is no longer a Liverpool player after he left and joined AS Roma for just short of £4m, according to an announcement from the Italian side tonight. The fee of €5m, which converts to £3.96m, is close to the £4.6m Liverpool paid for him seven years ago, when former boss Gerard Houllier signed him from Monaco. Riise has signed for four years, the Roma website says. The Italian club’s statement simply read: “AS Roma announce they have reached an agreement with Liverpool Football Club for the acquisition of the sporting rights of the player John Arne Riise with effect from July 1 2008.” However Liverpool FC’s remained more cautious about confirming the news. The deal has been as good as done, but they are waiting for the red tape before confirming the news. A statement on LFC.tv said: “Liverpool are awaiting completion of the necessary paperwork before officially announcing John Arne Riise’s transfer to AS Roma. Riise arrived in the Italian capital on Wednesday and held talks with the Serie A side, who have since announced he has signed on a four year deal.” Riise had taken some time to come to terms with the idea he was surplus to requirements in the eyes of Rafa Benítez, but when he did accept the idea commented that the £5m demanded by Liverpool seemed high. The fee paid is good business for Liverpool considering the Norwegian star had just a year left on his deal. Riise finalised talks on personal terms, already initiated by his agent, and passed a medical in the Italian capital. A statement earlier in the day from Roma said: “As part of ongoing negotiations with Liverpool football club regarding the signing of John Arne Riise, Roma have been authorised to deal with the agent of the player.” His agent, Jan Kvalheim, had also confirmed Riise’s presence in Italy: “I can confirm that John Arne Riise is in Rome for a medical and to finalise the negotiations. A few small details remain.” Those details are now done, other than that paperwork Liverpool are waiting on, and there is now a vacant number six shirt in Liverpool’s dressing room. Liverpool will reveal their new away kit at midnight tonight, officially, but images of the kit have already been seen on the internet. Images had been circulated some months ago, but the latest leaks show Liverpool players Steven Gerrard, Fernando Torres and Pepe Reina in the tops. The grey shirts are reminiscent of the Candy ones Liverpool had in a previous deal with Adidas, and will bring back fond memories for many Reds. How did you change the jersey of David Villa from Spain's to our new jersey? Nice... |

Here's the link for the new away jersey. Official LFC Adult Away Shirt 08 - LFC - Online Store
I can't help remembering that Man U once had a grey away jersey that they dumped after 1 match. The reason given was that the colour grey makes it hard for players to spot one another over long distance. So if you want to pass to a teammate who is 30 metres away, it will take you longer to spot him from the crowd in the background. Wonder how this new jersey will work. Suppose to be similar to the away grey candy jersey we used to have in 1989/90. I remember John Barnes in that grey jersey. Kit Review: Top Ten Liverpool Kits « being sven. Number 8 on the list. |
