picking pogba will cause the starting 11 to be out of balance as 1. attacking down the left will be the focal point again, and 2. he cannot defend and thus burden other teammates with more defensive responsibilities. if he plays against a top-6 club, its unlikely they will allow him so much space and time on the ball like against leeds

by signing varane, i think OGS is trying to build a defensive block which is less error prone. currently maguire and mctominay are solid but lindelof and fred are too error prone. lindelof/fred are decent rotation players but not good enough to be automatic starters, so OGS may have to make do with fred until he signs a solid MC or unless VDB can change his mind that he can perform better than fred

Yes, Leeds appears very weak compare to last season. I would say they play severely underpar, hence making Man U looks impressive.

Fred is actually a good stamina player....but sadly he couldn't do well to command the center of the park. As you pointed out, very error prone and lose possession way too easily.
He need a strong DM alongside him, like in this case, McTom.

VDB....sadly he can't fit into the team and looked very lost most of the time.
I can see he tried hard but maybe it is time to let go of him.

It is weird and strangely annoying to see ex players like Depay and LKK currently playing so well for their clubs.

Tonight's game against Soton will be a better test for the players. It is 9pm, don't forget!

Leeds showed their fighting spirit n came back from behind to equalise each time after going down to Everton last night in a pulsating game that ended in a 2-2 draw...hope Red Devils continue to hv such fighting spirit as Leeds has if they ever go behind to other teams

That is what Sancho is for, to bring some attacking creativity into the right side. We have been overloaded with left-sided forwards and attacking midfielders these past few years. And I don't think any of the trio of our left-sided forwards Rashford, Martial and James defend any better than Pogba. Playing him in that position is to free him from defensive duties. In any case, I think he does best when given the roaming free role, even if he 'starts' on the left.

As for Varane, still waiting to see if the aim is to free up one postion - using one solid defensive midfielder instead of the McFred pivot - now that there is a solid pair of central defenders.

Perhaps we can see something tonight against Southampton.

fred can be utilised ala Park JS where he is tasked to man mark opponent star player thru 90minutes, but my gripe is he lacks tactical discipline and gives away cheap fouls near the box

seems like VDB isn't on OGS preferred list and he was signed by someone above OGS level. u sign but don't play him, its a waste of money and the player's talent lor haizzz

in hindsight, depay wasn't ready for BPL which was too intense for him, LVG signed him to potong jalan pool. he performs better in leagues which are more technical rather than speed/tempo. sorry to see LKK go, but it was obvious that he didn't fit into OGS plans. if LKK first touch, heading and off the ball attributes are 20, OGS be crazy to sell him

yes, man u had been lacking a proper right winger until now, sancho brings balance to the attack. rashford, martial are attackers so we can't expect them to defend but pogba is a MC so he has to share some defensive work. if we recall, pogba performed better in a 3-man midfield when matic/mctom covered for him, and really facepalm when in a 2-man midfield. the problem OGS has is how to accommodate pogba fernandes sancho rashford martial in attack, pogba cannot defend while fernandes sancho are attack-minded, so OGS has to field mcfred for now to protect the defence. if he starts pogba with rashford/martial, the left flank will be congested like before

i feel OGS is two pieces away from the jigsaw puzzle, a solid DMC (any suggestions?) and a young targetman (haaland). once complete, glory glory man united

It's the 44th minute now n they r already 1 down...looks like they r having an off day ...like last season when he started, the knucklehead as usual is refusing to play his new expensive signing until too late ..the soton r playing n attacking v aggressively n the hopeless Lindelof, Matic n Maguire can't cope with the fast running n attacking of the soton players...if they don't wake up n bring in their new players in earlier, they will lose this game

Yes, it is confirmed by sports pundits that 3 players caused the downfall of the Red Devils last night against Southampton...they r as I hv just mentioned the useless Matic, Lindelof n lazy martial...all 3 deadwoods n a few others like Fred shd be sold at once n whatever fee they get from them shd be invested in new younger n faster players...Not sure if it's true, it seems they want to get Neves from wolves .. hopefully b4 transfer window closes in a few days time

Based on the first two matches, I think Greenwood and Martial should exchange squad numbers. Greenwood is a much more natural No.9 now.

Speaking of No.9s, Glazers should take a leaf out of Fergie's book when he quickly made a deal for Rooney after his Euro heroics and not let anyone steal a march on him - pay the premium now and sign Haaland before his release clause kicks in. When the release clause kicks in, there will be no lack of suitors and Utd probably won't be at the top of that list.

I feel that the squads we currently have should be challenging for title sad to say I don’t see this happening… ole still isn’t a world class manager yet and why did he still put Fred play? Can’t he play DVB? And pls dun tell me martial is only the player he can choose to be at the starting 11?

And touch wood if our fav son Ronaldo sign for Manchester City,I’m betting my last dollars they will wrap up the title by March…
