LTSVP will most probably not be approved because they are not married. Its usually provided to spouse or those PDMM, and those on LTSVP can't work, unless approved by MOM.

Those previously employed in Singapore, they should get approval for the registration of marriage. Usually if you are earning alright, and you have not at the time of application being pregnant or married in a foriegn country, and you put in that you are likely to become pregnant within 6 months of marriage, the comptroller will usually have no objections.

With that, you can register your marriage in Singapore. Once you have registered the marriage, you should quickly try to apply to ICA for the spouse to get LTSVP or PR status.

bro Rof, need your advice as I have a viet g/f who is here for 2 weeks but want to exend for another 2 weeks. She want me to accompany her to JB to get the chop and need to stuff some money at the JB custom in order to get the extention. Need your advice on how does this work and will i be charged for giving bribery to the custom officer? thks.

i would like to find out how to get married in the PRC and what documents do we need to bring along?

i'm single male and she's divorced PRC and i intend to get married in PRC.

heard from her that gotta go to harbin to get married as she's from heilongjiang.

in the long run, when we have children, gal we will get her a SG citizenship after birth, as for guy will wait until finish Uni then get him his SG citizenship as well.

I have not marry a PRC b4 but if I'm not wrong, you will need, Declaration of single (currently marriage status as single).

Orh carmeo88.... please refrain from doing such silly thing to bribe those officials, as it does no good to you and for the visitor. Ultimately, it's the ICA custom officers who will grant her stay in Singapore, even the malaysian side let her thru'. From what I observe, ICA won't grant vietnamese visitors so easliy in re-entry. Maybe others can offer their advice.

For Singaporean Singles to marry there, basically you need your birth certificate, singapore citizenship cert just in case and the declaration of single status which can be retrieved from ROM.

You do have a sound plan, but it won't be so easy for the latter part.

when u married a foreigner wife...there is a lot of factors u have to consider...

1) Food - can they get accustom to our local dishes.

2) climate - especially for PRC..they r unable to get accustom to the local climate...which is in fact very hot thru out the year..illnesses such as heat strokes, headached and loss of appetite is quite common.

3) Family members - like any other couples, regardless of nationality..r they able to live together with your parents and respect your folks...and whether your folks able to accept them....

4) Money - if u r a married couple..your wife will not unnecessary spend your hard earned money..even if they will like to purchase things..they will give it a second thoughts...cos if she is understanding..she will know tat u need to keep aside some money for the 'cold weather'.... and off course u should be certain that your wages is enogh to support her during the 'period whereby she is unemployed'...

5) Work - If she got her LTSVP..with at least 6 months validity...she is able to obtain WP..if a company seeks to hire her...

If you are born in singapore, you just show your birth certificate is enough.

I'm a Singaporean, wife is a foreigner. I managed to get a citizenship certificate for one of my children who was borned in a foreign country. There's quite a bit of paperwork and interviews, but not an impossible task. In fact, I think the Immigration Dept in Singapore is really quite efficient in this respect. The hard part was having to fly in the whole family and back for each appointment... I was not living in Singapore at that time.

Always better to trust government institutions than private school

Hi All Bros here,

This thread is indeed a godsend for those with foreign spouses, and I have found the first 15 pages really beneficial. Kudos to you all!

I also singaporean and married to foreign wife. She's Australian. The problem is, I have no income tax here in Sg, as I have been working and living in Australia all this while. Does this mean I not eligible to apply spouse visa for her to come live and work in Sg with me?

We're planning to come back cos my parents are getting old, and also for our future kids. Don't want them growing up call me by name!

With effect from Dec 06, you can extend the short term visit pass of visitor for another 14 days by using online extension application.

Did it once for a PRC friend. With this you don't need to apply for a Malaysia Visa and run the hassle to travel to JB.
