I've been planning to visit jkt. However the recent governor election results made me uncomfortable. I confirmed this with my friends living in jkt saying that it has become unsafe in jkt, doesnt matter if u're muslim or chinese. Would like to get any updates about security in jkt for the past 1 month from bros here.
I'm chinese, which is why i'm a bit scared. Yes its still pretty far from all out racial riot yet,but still would like to be updated.

+1 for Mix KTV for solo warriors or small groups. Also an agent with contacts for reasonable priced Takeout would be good. Its a strange contradiction to be quoted 3/4/5jt prices in a city where 350k fast meals easily found anywhere.

Sounds pretty normal to me. When is Jakarta ever not on the verge of some sort of political eruption?

leading up to lebaran is always more... risky.
there have been a few higher profile robbings n shootings.
but as long u keep low profile n keep your valuables close. its ok.
but if u come after mid july..things should be morr normal

crime rates if ur smart and dont do dumb stuff will be safe.
eg dont wear expensive stuffs when ur going to shady streets.

dont flash ur new iphone 7 while walkong on sidewalk.


and while jkt is still under lebaran spirit. dont go to cheap places they cant afford protection money so they close down. go to the high end places

personally i got intimidated at a local minimart.
my bule friend got beaten while eating at senayan.

low profile will minimise alot still.
also dont flash cash(yes their biggest note is 100k aka small change)
sun city spa will close first 2 days of lebaran based on what i know from the prc masseur there.
