They only approved a 2 months VISA when i apply LTSVP for my wife after our ROM to wait for the approval of the LTSVP which usually need to wait for about 1 month for the notification. I dun think the duration for the VISA is depends on the return air ticket as i only bought a 1 way ticket for my wife when she came to s'pore. |

Re: Foreigner Wife!
bros, I just read this news from the web. foreigners applying for
singapore citizenship or PR. Web address: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/070213/5/singapore258236.html Want to be a S'pore citizen or PR? Foreigners thinking of applying for Singapore Permanent Residency or citizenship will soon be able to assess their chances of success online. In a move that could save potential applicants waiting time and money, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) is launching a free self-assessment tool at www.ica.gov.sg on Thursday. The Naturalisation Eligibility Tool allows foreigners working or living here to check their eligibility based on personal information such as type of work pass held, occupation, nationality, educational qualifications and annual income, as well as on their spouse and children's details. Those overseas can also use the system, but if they lack a work pass, their results will only be speculative. The system indicates — using a "traffic light" approach — if the aspirant should go ahead with an application. A red light means the user has not met the minimum criteria, and is encouraged to try again when his personal status changes. Amber means the applicant can be reassessed in a year or two, while the green light (picture) means the minimum requirements have been met. The online form takes about five minutes to fill and results are given instantaneously. Ms Clara Tan, ICA's head of Naturalisation, noted that other countries — such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand — have similar systems. The tool is purely preliminary, she stressed. Indication of eligibility is no guarantee for approval. Currently, an applicant for Permanent Resident status has to wait at least three months for a result. An aspiring citizen has to submit the forms in person and sit for an interview, during which he or she will be told of their chances of success. To go ahead, he or she then pays a $90 processing fee, with a six-month wait for the result. The ICA hopes the tool will improve the approval rate. Last year the agency approved 58,200 and 13,900 applications for PR and citizenship status, respectively. - /fa |

Re: Foreigner Wife!
Yes, such checking system is a good indicator for those who wish to apply beforehand. At least this give them a rough guide on the sucessful rate.
An important things to note, the eligibility of SPR /Citizenship does not guarantee the approval for the application, as this requires an in-depth assessment. ICA still view each application seriously and subjected to approval. Re: Foreigner Wife!
Hi brothers
I have a girlfriend from Malaysia who is studying Pharmacy in Australia and i have just graduate with a engineering degree in Australia. She is planning to come to Singapore after she graduate in a year time to work so that we can be together and we are planning to ROM at the end of next year. Im really confused as to what is the best step to take as i sincerely want this relationship to work.I know getting married is the easy way out for her to stay in Singapore and finding a job, but being a recent graduate,i knew i just can't afford to give her a reasonable one until the end of next year. What do i have to do to make sure she can stay in Singapore and that she can take her time finding a job without her worrying that she may get booted out of the country. I understand Malaysians can only stay in Singapore for a maximum of 14 days on social pass before they have to go back. Can she just go back to the woodland checkpoint and get a chop every two weeks for as long as she can?Is there any form of way in which i can act as a guarantor that i am able to look after her while she is finding a job in Singapore for a few months(worst case scenario). I believe it is not easy finding a job as a Pharmacist when you are a malaysian without any work permit or PR even though the degree is a recognised one from Australia and i don' think anyone will respond to her if she tired to apply for a job in Singapore while still studying in Australia. One year is not a long time..i just want her her to have a smooth transition to Singapore because she is going to give up her dream of establishing a career in Australia just to be with me. Would really appreciate brothers for any feedback and ideas.Im at my wits end. |
