Actually I have a very different opinion of this Tieng Viet thing.. allow me to present my view.. Most of the active members in this thread are Singaporean/Malaysian... not Vietnamese, and we somehow learn TV just for the sake of getting into the panties of VB and that is all. In addition, this Forum is about Sex, not Culture. Sure we can talk about Language and Culture here, but that will have to take a 2nd fiddle. For example, let me ask u guy... when u go to another thread that says "How to make a woman cum many times!" and after every brudder expressed their view and then suddenly a Gynae from Thomson Medical Center came in to present the whole Clinical Details etc etc... we will be impressed, right??? But does that also mean that we all suddenly have to go and get a Doctorate Degree majoring in the CCB right away??? Or is that even in our distant long term goal???? And will getting that eventually improve our chance of scoring and quality of sex life and the whole big purpose of coming in to this Forum??? Let me relate a Real story to you... a story about me, Mr R (a visitor to hanoi who have been to a KTV om the night before with me and impressed with my TV) and Mr W(a Singaporean in Hanoi for 20 years and speaks TV 100% correct, can even write with the dau!). I, of course, is the one with the bery limited TV capability. So 3 of us were eating lunch and Mr R commented ; "Wow, i really must learn TV, just like this Deptrai, so that i can score more pussies in Hanoi since I am gonna be here often". Mr W says ; "If u want to learn TV, u better go to a proper school and learn, this stupid Deptrai only speak broken TV and knows only the bad words..". I said ; "Yes, Mr W is right.. but... if u eventually speak 100% correct TV, do u know that u will not score any better??? In fact it could even make it more difficult for you to score! Look at Mr W, he never managed to score for a long long time now." if you guys do not understand what I mean, take a look at this and tell me if u think this is eerieee.... But here, look again.. when a foreigner trying to speak ur native language in their own odd way... does it not all seems so much more adorable and facinating??? This is in fact for the early days success for Jackie Chan's kung fu movies where he have a couple of ang mo speaking Chinese in his shows! So guys.... before u dive in... to learn all about TV with the dau... think again... and think carefully.... if ur purpose is to impressed the rest of the brudders here... pls go ahead! My own conclusion... my IMPERFECT TV is just PERFECT for what I just wanted to achieve.

yeah, I know "dấu" is difficult for non-VNese people because of Tiếng Việt's distinctive features. however, it makes Tiếng Việt become a lovely language doesn't it? as you know, our writing system called Chữ Quốc Ngữ (script of the national language) is based on Latin script. there are 8 additions of diacritics – four of them to create additional sounds ("dấu mũ" in â, ê; "dấu móc" in ơ, ư; "dấu trăng" in ă, "dấu gạch ngang" in đ), and the other five to indicate the tone of each word ("huyền" in à, ầ..; "sắc" in "á, ấ"; "hỏi" in ạ, ậ..; "ngã" in ã, ẫ..; "nặng" in "ạ, ậ"..etc). Vietnamese is a tonal language, i.e. the meaning of each word depends on the "tone"; so "dấu" is very important. And there is a feature of Tiếng Việt can be described "if you know how to pronounce a word, you'll be able to write it" in every case. So the compelling condition is you have to spell word correctly. Because I'm a native speaker, it's very easy for me, but perhaps for foreigners it's not; so there is nothing ignorant here . I will try to guide you, but cause of my limitation, it maybe not easy to follow. You should go to learn with a good cô giáo. Let me give you an example : You want to write a sentence as "Toi muon mua ca" (I want to buy "ca"). I think the most difficult word needed to write is "ca" (in case you can pronounce the rest) . You have to decide what it means. Is it a cá" (fish) or "ca" (mug) or "cả" (all of thing) or "cà" (Egg-plant) ? If you choose the 1st one, whole sentence will be written like " Tôi muốn mua cá". That's all. Writing Tiếng Việt in computer is simple. You need to download an app named Unikey, choose character set (Unicode or Composite Unicode), Input method (Telex) and follow this instruction: Quote:

Re: Tieng Viet lovers club
Eating With Courage
================================== Vietnamese are eaters with passion and cooks with boldness. Vietnamese cuisine can satisfy the stomach and can also be cravings of food lovers for something different and adventurous. In HCM City, there are several barbecue restaurants, where meat is being nicely roasted and mouthwatering aroma can be smelled from distance away. All you have to do is to put on your napkin and get ready for the surprises in your meal. Apart from the usual meat choices, they have got some rather unusual alternatives for diners to pick—ranging from rats, sparrows and crocodiles to scorpions and crickets, to name just a few. “I would not eat meat that I can’t recognize,” says Hugh Marsh, a 65-year-old Australian who has lived in the city for nearly three years. When everything is marinated and roasted, and all of the dishes come with a nearly flamboyant reddish color, pork or sparrows, or beef or rat steaks, one can barely tell the difference, Marsh argues. But he adds that when some of his friends were visiting this country, they would purposely look for these exotic dishes. “Although fear challenges tourists, eating exotic meat is for experience and fun,” Marsh says. A waiter at one of the barbecue restaurants we visited to write this article claimed that some foreign tourists have frequented his place for these exotic dishes. However, the American visitor Alexis Williams, 21, refuses to put exotic meat in her month. “I dare not try it. I don’t know where the meat is from.” Williams says when she was planning to come to the city, she heard from her friends that rat cuisines are popular in this country. Not a meat lover? Then you may as well want to snack on an egg instead. At the corner of De Tham and Bui Vien streets in HCM City’s backpackers’ quarter in District 1, you can see eaters, local and expatriate alike, sitting on a low wooden stool to have their ht vt ln—the hard-boiled fertilized duck egg. Once being cracked open, the egg will show the unusually yellowish embryo with a multitude of visible veins. The soul of this snack however is a duck embryo which has not fully developed. Some expatriates may not be interested in trying on this commonly seen snack. Maggie Lenning, 23, who is from England, is one of them. Lenning says she dares not see anyone having this food, let alone eating it. However, John Munis—Lenning’s compatriot—says that he likes this snack. “It tastes better than it looks,” Munis affirms. This unique snack may not be a hit among all foreign tourists, but it makes no harm to its height of local popularity in Vietnam and also in many other Southeast Asian countries. The ways different people enjoy the treat would vary slightly from one culture to another. In Vietnam, these eggs would be served with lemon, and salt and pepper. Local people believe the snack is high in protein and can boost energy for the day. In several cases, a bottle of wine with a snake positioned up straight and biting on a scorpion between its fangs can serve as well a unique souvenir for friends back home. Jo Keller, a German tourist in his 40s, has bought several bottles of snake wine to add traces of exotic locations to his hometown. “But I would not drink it,” said Keller. According to a souvenir shop owner, the wine is made in rural Vietnam and is different from normal liquor as it can be a medicinal brandy and can bring invigorating effects. The wine is a traditional drink which is commonly seen in rural Chinese villages and many other Asian countries. In preparation of the liquor, different animals and their intestines are soaked in alcohol. Some foreigners who have tasted the wine say that it tastes somewhat like whisky with rotten scales. When you are here in Vietnam, be adventurous on foods! Don’t get frightened by how the dishes may look like. Instead, try out cuisines that are beyond your expectations. If you’re courageous enough, these dishes may enrich your experiences in Vietnam.
