I met up with a former classmate when she was in town over the weekend and amongst the topics we talked about was this sex-for-hire case. She told me about her own experience when she was employed by a British company to market their products.

She told me about one incident where she had been negotiating with the client for months but he always kept postponing the signing of the contract. Then during one quarter when she could not hit her quota she was desperate to close this deal so she asked the client what does he want to sign the contract. He was very direct and asked her to sleep with him. She thought about it for days and finally agreed because she would lose her job anyway if the quota was not met and she had spent so much effort on this deal.

She brought the contract to the hotel room and insisted he sign it before they did the act. She was promoted to sales manager the following month because this deal was one of the biggest the company have had for years. (refurbishment of electronics for aircrafts). My former classmate moved to several other companies but was always in the sales and marketing management and she has slept with some clients in order to win their business. According to her this practice is common in the industry.

In the short 5 years that she was working, she managed to earn enough to buy a high end condo in Grange road and drive a European coupe.

She has stopped working now that she is married and lives in HK with her Angmo husband.

I broke up with my fiancee because of this practice.

We had been together since primary school. She graduated from NUS in Computer Science but went to work in Marketing in the IT industry. She started clubbing every night, her bedroom skills improved tremendously, she could change cars every year, she started having 2 separate mobiles and the other mobile is out of bounds to me. I am not stupid and guessed what was going on, I deliberated on it for a long time until 2 weeks before our ROM I told her I could not go through with it.

On hindsight, I was glad I made the decision to dump her.

To be fair to Ng, in actual life he may be a stern man but he does his job well. He has offended many people because he never tolerate shit. We used to be buddies years back.. Even before he was posted to CID.

That was already in use many many years ago, even before the iPhone / smartphone era. The latest I heard now was that they do not need to know your IP address to zero in on you / your online identity.
