Same here bro, I don't mind getting a contract assignment to Thailand just for the experience.

Furthermore, once you have that experience, future companies might have tendencies to post you back to Thailand again since you already got contacts/network in Thailand.

Anyway, just for info to samsters...Days ago, I was talking to 2 friends working as head hunter. I wanted them to help me find a job back in SG and both commented the same, this year economic is very, very, very bad... they noticed significantly less job opportunities...

look on the bright side, at least you learned a valuable lesson in life about dealing with people.

to me, the only scariest thing is that we refused to learn from our mistakes.

Talking Re: Re-location advice

Government says next year 2017 will be 'Gloomy' but in ACTUAL fact, it is trying to tell us RECESSION coming next year.

For those that wants to change job, better think properly and carefully as the patch is NOT ALWAYS greener on the other side.

Foods for thought..
This farang is just playing with peanuts money and earn rental for beer money at bars.

The lucrative way is to buy or lease a whole building, refurbish it and hire your own management team to run it.
The top floor (penthouse ) will be occupied by you (da boss) so that staff are kept on their toes.
From your ivory tower you can see how the business is going mah plus you're "rent free" but for accounting sakes you must put in an amount for taxation purposes.

This is how I'll do it if I can get funding from banks.

I know what you're talking about because I ever researched on Bangkok real estate in depth before.
Not just with fingers on keyboard but a lot of leg work by surveying sites.

All over Bangkok there're a lot of dirt cheap freehold condos but the question is do you dare to buy or not?
A lot are very ghetto looking.

Most condos in Bangkok lack maintenance.
After the condo TOP for 5 years the exterior walls look like crap.
Interior common spaces no need even to furthur elaborate.

Eg. THB400,000/S$16,000 Condo at Bang Kapi.

As I've mentioned before want to invest better invest in Condos sitting on prime land.
The demand is always there as expansion space is limited.

Along the way when dealing with PRCs sure will incur some collateral damage.

Got 3 bros in CM did this, 2 of them build new building and run as hotel and also long term rental while another 1 bro rented a shop house and run as guest house and restaurant. Business is ok but still a lot of hard work to run a business.......overhead, staffs, high low season turn over of guest etc etc. For me better retired style easy easy rent few unit of condo and shake leg one corner

I had a job which required me to travel extensively in the region... after I moved on to another company, initially looking after SG market but soon we won a few projects in JKT thus my oversea stint started from there All fates, I did not purposely look for an oversea job.

Running Hotel accomodation is different from apartment rental.
Hotel accomodation relies on tourism while apartment rental is from domestic demand.

You're going into retirement mode so of course no need to work so hard lah.

Process will be long winded... since u are investing few 100k or millions... why not pay a small fee to a lawyer?

As for building, u have few options....lease the land, build your own building. Buy the land, build your own building. Lease a building. Depending on what type of factory, location of your factory, there are various concessions offer by the BOI. Again look for a lawyer to assist.
