Just came back from a short trip to HCMC, took the advice of a Bro here to bring SGD cash to change, in view of the current economic situation. A few observations:
1. Managed to exchange 1 SGD = VND 13100 at Goldsmith shop near Cho Ben Thanh.
2. 2-star hotel that I stayed in posts rates in USD: if you choose to pay by credit card they convert at a ridiculous rate of 1 USD = 18500 VND, not before adding a 3% service charge for the convenience of swiping your card.
3. So to answer my own question that I posed here not too long ago, and to avoid being accused of wanting to be spoonfed, the best thing to do IMHO would be to bring SGD cash to exchange to VND for all expenses except accomodation. Buy USD in Singapore and bring to VN to pay for accomodation.
Hope this helps those who will be visiting HCMC these few months.
Bro, not necessary their viet writing are good. i have personally encountered they have many grammar mistakes, when i help some fren to do translation....
Do u know that w/o your lead, many fellow sbf cheongsters refrain from chionging little vn?

Think you should put your yogurt / cheese into your VIC girl soon... since she treats your like a personal handbag, likewise, treat her as your own prefered form of storage device as well.
Trust me when I say I really really want to do it. But then I am getting abit too old for games liao. Haiz......
Anyways...Lets not talk about VIC ger any more ok...
We should be talking about how I can get my hands on the other one
very recently I had the pleasure of meeting up with Beijunda, Carrot, Icehk, Lexbuckle, Octlong, V.Killer, Vlover, ZhaoSanHe (Where did you dissapear to?) and some other samsters who were recently or are still in HCMC.(Names are in alphabetical order )
I had a fun time with all. Learning from each other all the things we do just to get a VN gers' phone number or to get her into bed. Very very intresting and mostly humuorous stories.
had the honour together with some of the oldies to initiate a "virgin" samster into the night life of HCMC. PS: next time want the ger's number, must get it yourself. More "sincere" that way and also prevent other people from "potong jalan" her. hahahahahahahahaha.
It is always intresting to get a fresh insight as to what other samsters think of HCMC versus to those who have been stationed here for some time. Different opinions can give rise to very intresting conversations and of course many many opportunities to "suan" & "chak" each other. Afterall, that is what makes it so fun. Some have said I am very straight forward and most off the time can come across as being vindictive / "tao" / obnoxious but as one samster told me recently, the ball is round. But I also believe that if every one in the group has the same character / personality it can be quite boring.
Having said this, there was an occasion where after drinks one night and I had settled the bill, we all outside the club considering where to go next. Someone asked me how much was the bill and wanted to pay his share. I said there was no need as it was a very small amount. had a balance bottle anyway. only paid for mixers. and infront of everyone he spoke very loudly and quite aggressievly "HOW CAN??? CANNOT LAH, MUST SHARE" or something to that effect.
Now, I not sure of his character or personality but if someone offers to pay despite your efforts to disaude them, graciously accept it . people might take offence to it.
Well, I guess that with age, its time to mellow down. It has been both an honour and pleasure to have chiong HCMC with you guys!!!!!!!
EDITORS NOTE:
The above is FICTIONAL. Any smiliarities to people / situations is purely coincidental. All names have been changed to protect the indentities of all parties involved
Now you have so many co giao Thao (and Chi and Thi and etc etc), how I know which teacher you refering to? They are all viets mah, their tieng viet of cause better than anyone of us here, needless to say !
We, youngsters cum newbies, must 'Yin Sui Si Yan'.. Must always honour the one who brought me into the world of tieng viet..

If you got old rusty face which young gals don't like, why you keep attracting them? But for the earlier part, its quite true.. went ard HCMC, saw quite a couple of young girls branding Guccis and LVs.. But the fact whether its bought in the boutique or in Cho Ben Thanh is still in doubt

I do agress with you on this point that if the group of friends all having the same character & personality it'll be very boring and of course it'll be MORE fun to have people around to suan & chak each other like what we do in this forum .

BTW, she recently got into an accident but thankfully nothing major. just some scratches and bruises. only back to work in about 2 weeks. You want to show her your sincerity???

Just part and parcel of meeting with new people, like I always say, some people just meet one time is enough
On another day, this same guy sent me a sms "Do I need to tip the PR girls at xxx xxxxx... ?" I think I showed the sms to you... I really do not know how to reply such questions sometimes... how come some people will have the impression that they can have free lunch in HCM when they know very well the tipping system in JC and GL ???

Ya, some of them write with so many short-form and spelling mistakes... really need a professional hacker to decode their sms sometimes, hahaha!
But among all... your tieng viet still the best, and you did it all in little vn... power la! Really must salute you for your love for the language !
I already appointed a new leader... he is none other than our young Thom07

The other one refering to My??? Try sms her a few more times... she will see your sincerity
Or maybe you can use a lame excuse like you need to pass something to me and tell her to bring it over to Singapore. It may be an old-fashion trick... but you'll never know unless you try...
