Wow, lots of posts to read lately. Well, over the last 1 month, I've had the opportunity to meet, hang out with and get to know fellow Samsters such as our Chairman Reaper, Octlong, Lexbuckle, Carrot, Vlover, VKillers and Zhaoshanghe. I've really had a great time talking with and drinking with each and every one of these guys and have learned a lot about HCM while having lots of fun at the same time. It's refreshing to meet kindred spirits and it has made me look forward to each and every one of my trips to HCM....ok the stunning gers we tend to run into every night out have a SMALL part to play in that feeling too
My humble opinion on some of the places we've visited on nights out.
Windows 4 Cafe(12 Alexandre De Rhodes) - nice large restaurant/coffee shop. I had actually been here once with a salon girl before but was back here with Carrot and Vlover on my last trip. We weren't there at quite the right time to see LOTS of pretty FL's but did see a couple that showed the potential of this place. Good place to chill and relax and watch the scenery. Can sit outside if it's not too hot.
Gossip(79 Tran Hung Dao, D1) - Always had a good time here. Nice sized crowd. Music is good, the girls are hot and looking to party. Had my drinking/dancing/frenching experience with an FL here the first night. Ran into her a few days later at Palace and then again at Gossip. May bring her back next time just to wipe the slate clean. She was attractive and fun though.
Palace(56-66 Nguyen Hue in Palace Hotel D1) - Was surprisingly quite empty the two times we went(perhaps too early?). However has some very hot stage dancers with CFM looks that the club employs and one particular PR that I liked VERY much and would like to see again for sure Tips were 100K-200K based on personal preference.
Club 16 - pub with an olderish live band who plays mostly local music but some Western covers as well. Definitely has some very cute PR's though knowing the language will definitely be a big asset here as in most places in HCM. Shared a good laugh with one of the PR's at the bar when she noticed me checking out the nice plumbers crack of the PR beside her The PR I had spoke a little bit of cantonese so had fun getting her to count up and down. My pocket Vietnamese dictionary came in handy here though learning the language will ultimately be a better option. Tips here are 50K-100K. Pretty much no touch and rubba rubba here so would need to go to KTV for that next time.
96 Ngyuen Thi Minh Khai(Butterfyl Bar it's called I think) Another smallish disco that had a pretty good and cute female DJ the night that I remember there. Had quite a bit of fun dancing with one of the uniformed clad PR's there. She was lots of fun and had killer eyes(which I love) and a nice body. Really enjoyed dancing with her though the only downside is she often disappeared for rather long stretches at a time for who knows what reason. Tips again were 100K-200K based on personal preference.
I also spent lots of time and really enjoyed playing pool opposite the old Arena with Reaper, Octlong, Vkillers and Lexbuckle. All the guys I've met know how much I like to shoot pool and with so many pretty ger's walking around it's given me lots of reason and incentive to learn and improve my Vietnamese. If you do go, pls. remember to treat the gers nicely and respectfully(that goes for all places here in general) Thanks also to Octlong for taking me to the Saigon market where the movies are really cheap.

For reference, the Lien An Hotel(37-41 Le Anh Xuan) was ger friendly on my stays there. If you are a single guy staying, the bellboy/bellman will undoubtedly ask you directly if you want a massage girl to come to your room later. US$50 for ST, US$100 for LT. One Samster told me he had an alright experience with it. My experience was not good but your mileage may vary. My ger wasn't pretty in the face and wore lots of makeup(4/10 overall though she had a nice cute body) and not very co-operative and in the end I ended up bringing her down to change. As it was quite late and I had to work the next day, I declined the 2nd girl who was a slight improvement in looks. The desk manager offered to bring me out another night to choose a better girl but I ended up not taking him up on the offer as I was always out late with the other samsters pretty much every night.
There are three hair wash salons near to the hotel. The one next door I went to twice and had two very hot girls who I saw later on so I didn't get to try. One dressed in reg clothes had a great CFM look and the other who I saw using the computer at the back was just drop dead gorgeous. However, as the front entrance is quite small, only a handful of ger's sit at the front(probably on rotation) and the rest hang out in the back at the computers hidden from view until you get to the hair wash section! Did have a wonderful massage(one of the best I've had in a salon) on one of my trips here. Tips at salons are usually 50K-100K depending on your preference and much you enjoyed it. I occasionally tip higher if I had a really great time which I sometimes do as I love the salon experience here.
Also had a great time at the salon across the street next to the Singaporean restaurant(on the left side if you are facing the restaurant). The ger was very friendly and ended up staying with her for over 2 hours. Regarding the Singapore restaurant next door I know that some don't like this restaurant or the owner but in honesty, I ate here 3 or 4 times and got take away once and I always found the food to be good quality and reasonably priced. The yoghurt drinks are quite good too. Just my opinion though.
It's impossible to understate the importance of language here. While body language can and is used very often here, knowing how to speak Vietnamese will exponentially enhance the amount of fun and overall experience you have here. It's quite fun yet enviable at the same time to watch some of our more experienced members in the language such as Reaper and Carrot really flirt with the girls we meet. In terms of making them feel comfortable and making them laugh, there's no substitute for being able to speak the language. I've only been trying to learn for a few weeks now but there's no question that I have many many long haired walking talking reasons to do so. A good English-Vietnamese/Vietnamese-English pocket dictionary is a must and is a useful and fun conversation starter with gers. I'm also listening to some Pimsleur language MP3's and I find this a good way to learn over the usual audio language lessons.
There's also a Tieng Viet lover's thread in the Adult Discussions section of this forum that has a lot of useful words in it.
Having now set up a HCM base of operations to work from when I'm in town(a big thanks to Reaper for his help), I look forward to many future nights of fun in this wonderful city with the great people I've met so far.
Cheers,
Ice

Yes there is a bar fine. Not sure how much but it varies from anywhere from "4 drinks" - "6 drinks" Mini hotel safety is subjective. If you get the girl from the Fuck Shop, the place they bring you to is quite safe. but then, nothing is guaranted. Dont flash expensive stuff around and you will be fine.

Having flown to HCM 9 times already the last 3 1/2 months, I've had plenty of practice grabbing taxis from the airport After coming out the doors, you'll undoubtedly be grabbed and/or tackled(ok figuratively not literally) by the taxi touts standing around, waiting for the foreigners who they can overcharge and take via the "scenic" route to their destination. I always avoid these guys and even the lineup of taxis waiting right outside. Instead I walk straight past all these people across the street to the 2nd island and simply wait for a Mai Linh or Saigon Sun taxi to pull up and flag him down. Mai Linh is now my favorite taxi of choice as so far they've all been honest and the meter goes up slower than the other companies though it starts at 15K instead of 12K. 70-80K will definitely get you from the airport to pretty much anywhere in D1

Bro ICEHK, did you try the foot massage next to Dai Loc hotel? I tried a few times and always asked for the same girl. It is more expensive than the massage in the salon (100k compare to 80k) but the set up is new and quite comfortable. Was told that they are going to have massage set up later (in 2 weeks time). Not able to report whether the foot massage is good or not as I do not have any past experience for comparison. It was quite enjoyable to me as the girl is very friendly. (Got her phone number and pictures) Unfortunately she decline to join me after work as her sister pick her up after work.
Missed the chance to meet up with you again as I am not sure of my schedule (even on daily basis). Hope will be able to me up on my next trip. I will be staying in the same hotel as I will leave my luggage with them so that I don't have to carry back.

Hey friend. If you're referring to the regular hair salons(eg. on Bui Thi Xuan), there's actually nothing intimidating about them. Even if you don't speak a word of Vietnamese. Just walk in, sit down on a chair and show them with your hands that you want hair wash and massage. Then just relax and follow their instructions for the next 90 minutes. I posted the SOP for hair salons a while back. It's still one of the best, most relaxing and economical bargains in HCM. Hope you give it a try next time. It's definitely worth it
Cheers,
Ice

Here was my original quote regarding SOP at the salon about a month ago:

1) Walk in and take a seat
2) Look around and choose the girl you like. Should be a bunch standing around you to give you a better look
3) Tell them you want hair wash and massage
4) Choose free drink from the menu
5) Girl you chose will do a quick head and shoulder rub and then ask you to follow her to the back room. She'll probably chit chat with you and ask you for your name and where you're from
6) Lie down and proceed to have hair washed several times, cucumber slices put on your face and head massaged. Lasts around 30-40 minutes
7) Get up and follow girl upstairs to massage rooms. These have anywhere from 3-6 massage beds
8) Take off shoes and socks and lie on back and get ears cleaned. Girl may ask if you want earwax or facial. These are optional and you can get if you feel like it. Sometimes I get earwax which is nice(done by a different girl usually)
9) Girl will then proceed to massage your shoulder, hands and legs(no chest unfortunately)
10) She will then ask you to lie on your front and she will do a nice back massage(with or without oil), walk up and down on your back and legs and pull and stretch you into various positions. It's all quite nice and not painful at all like Thai massage. If you're lucky, she'll give you a nice bum massage as well
11) Sit up and she will massage your shoulders and head as well before finishing
12) Walk downstairs with her, pay the boss at the front and tip the girl discreetly 50-100K or more if you feel like it.
That's SOP. If you feel particular chemistry with a girl, you can chat her up a lot more, get her number, go out with her outside her working hours(which are usually 7 days a week! For the most part, no hanky panky in the salon. You can put your arms on their waist, hold their hands and things like that but no groping(unless you are a very regular customer of theirs and they know you very well)
80K + 50K-100K tips make the salons one of the best bargains in HCM
There are 4 salons on Bui Thi Xuan as well(which is where I usually go). Two on either side of the street. This would be a short 5-10 minute walk from New World or Tan My Dinh Hotel. Le Duyen is the biggest one there. They are easy to spot as there are lots of girls dressed very sexy standing out front and inside

no prob...importatn thing is must try... If no one in here dare to venture in and try, there will no info available for the others read.
next week...you can look for Beijunda and ask him to show you around. LOL
HAng on...the above has to be one of the most biased statements I have ever read simply because you are ADDICTED to it....wahahahahah
LOL. Ok ok, I admit that I am probably the LEAST objective person in the world to be giving opinions about the salon experience because I enjoy it so much and have been so many times
One should take my opinions with a huge dash of salt then!

Right, the 3 on Le Anh Xuan then. Two I've tried and they are both good. Man.....perhaps I should be getting commission for sending people over!
