There's now a different tactic used to scam people to the other countries.
First, you get a job offered in a safe country, eg Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore.
After you arrive, there will be a team building exercise/event or company sponsored event to other countries.

Once you leave the first country and enter into the other country, you're done for.
Literally kidnap when you arrive at third country and bring you across to the target country to force into scamming.

The key thing is to first have an official employment permit that can be verified.
And do not pay for your own air ticket anywhere.

Actually many PRCs do get scammed into coming to Singapore. The China 中介 agent charges a processing fee of $30k - $50k rmb. Many said they borrowed money from friends and relatives to come work here.

Once in SG, they realised the job scope differs from what was agreed. The regular OT pay also doesn't materialise. This is especially common for PRCs working in electronics factory around Woodlands. Their working schedule is like work 3 days rest 4 days and then work 4 days rest 3 days. Cheaper to employ more headcount than to give OT to existing staff. Income is lower than expected but expenses (food/rental) are higher than expected.

On the massage scene, some didn't know the shops they join need to provide BBBJ or FJ services. The lady boss slowly brainwash by trying to restrict her business in the initial stage. Every other girl do bbbj/fj but the newbie only does HJ max... slowly will make her feel out of place until she relents... tell her she is here to max out income, whatever happens here China friends don't know etc... recently heard a ML say her boss told her BBBJ is safe and won't contract disease.
