From my understanding most serviced apartments will not allow you to bring guests back. Any place with a 24hr front desk reception you will be hard pressed to bring a ger back. A non-serviced apartment can be a good option. I also found that 4 nights in a 4-5 star hotel is the same as the monthly rental of an apartment so when I looked, I specifically looked for a non-serviced place. The downside is that non-serviced apartments have longer lease terms(typically 1 year)

if sommerset apartment very exp lei, above USD3000!!! If stay in Mieu Noi, District BT after the river of Dist 1, USD500 can liao, last time was quoted USD400 with fully furnished but no service.
Ahh, Mieu Noi building. I saw a place advertised in there that looked quite nice and was only $500 like you mentioned. Seemed too good to be true. Did some inquiries and found out that Mieu Noi building was built on an old cemetary hence the cheap rental rates
Another building that I was quite shocked to see was Nguyen Ngoc Phuong building in Binh Tanh. It looked quite nice from the outside but when I looked inside, the design was horrid. It's a new building but the interior area including the hallways, elevator etc. looked 30 years old. Unfinished, dark and unpleasant. The architect should have been shot, run over and then shot again :rolleyes
Some of the apartment interiors are nice but I hated the hallway/elevator areas
