word from a girl staying in angeles that i still keep in contact with: there has been a spat of rape and hold-ups (robberies) ongoing in angeles due to the rising inflation and food costs - apparently the locals whom used to hold minimum wage jobs have mostly quit because its simply not enough to cover daily expenses. mayor is considering locking down parts of angeles also due to the rise of covid cases

i'm heading to angeles in a months time to have fun and gamble at the casino but kinda unsure of going now if tourists are going to be targets, im not too sure if its worthwhile to go. any sort of ground info would be great.

Nothing that i heard-of. Robberies are common and expected, just be cautious will be fine. The hold-up robberies are PRC kidnapping PRC cause CNY is coming.. but they tend to happen more in Pasay area, not too sure about Angeles/ Clark. So just speak either local language or English. Cause when you speak mandarin, they will automatically assume you're from China. Sad to say.. the poorly educated ones has a negative view of PRC here, due to most PRC's way of life here.. extensive smoking, rude etc. But they are also the ones with the 2nd most population here apart from filipinos. So when some of the girls feel filipino men are playboys, some of them find PRCs for a relationship. Otherwise filipinos and filipinas are hard workers. However they tend to bit demotivated, but they won't quit their jobs due to salary being not enough, cause it's worse to have 0 income.

It's weird.. but have to get used to it. It's not much of a Caucasian world nowadays.

Since the recent topic is on mugging and any crime, I just wanna share about my experience from my trip in September '22, on my second night...

After day 1 with the young cutie, I woke up quite late and went out for brunch. Would recommend the MC cafe near Natalia hotel if you're looking for some kind of Instagramable cafe vibes in Angeles. It is a good idea to bring your lady for some GFE brunch - they serve western fare and usual coffee etc, but also saw some Koreans treating their Filipinos baes some bingsu - if that's your kind of thing.

After the brunch, went to Gold Bar to have a look. It's quite a big place with a stage at the front - and the girls take turn to do some simple dance on stage. Ordered some beers and got a girl to sit with me - she is dark skin but nice eyes (I'd say 50% Rihanna vibes =)) But for some reason - maybe too much fuck previous day or too much beer, I just didn't feel for anything. And the mamasan and even the girl keep asking if want to go boom-boom; I kept rejecting... as the day goes, my dick got more and more lame and I left in the end. What a mistake.

After talking a while, trans still was quite insistent and another 5 mins later she finally relented. I cross my heart faster than the average Filippino Catholic and sent her down.

At the ground floor, the door man and front desk lady was standing-by and helped to escort "her" out. Her parting words were, "you just watch your steps, you don't know what you're dealing with". What the fuck.
But I was really glad with how the door man and front desk lady helped me and assured me.

What a fucking day - and I went to sleep like a little boy wounded after a bad fight.

Fellow brudders, hope you don't get in such situations like I do!
Some learning points I had:
1. Sometimes it might be good to stay at least aware-sober (even if you really want to have some drinks), you never know what lurks in the dark
2. Always verify, verify and verify who you're bringing back, especially from wechat. And if you feel any slight discomfort, run.
3. Always think of a local helpline available, especially if you're traveling alone. It could be the taxi-man, mamasan, or the hotel front desk like in my case. Build some rapport with them beforehand if you can.
4. Stay calm always and don't get dragged into the shithole when the other party is throwing threats or being aggressive, it's time to think with your big head and not small head. And remember a problem that money can solve is not really a problem, per se.


After the shit night, I was so traumatized, and to make up for it, I became a beast on my 3rd day. More to come....
