The other day, brought my gf to Amigo Grill but when she saw the $$$$$, she liked took forever to choose the menu and when the steak came, she was damn heartache.
Anyway later, she told me dunt need to go to tis kind of places. So a couple of days later, she xe om me to several places where the local ventures for food:
1. Au Pagolac, 19 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, D3.
Here their specilities is beef ... beef in vinegar, grilled beef, beef soup etc. Disclaimer: they use local beef, so dunt go with high expectation. The dish is no award winning for sure ... but with the price, guess one cannot demand too much.
2. Quan 94, 84 Dinh Tien Hoang, P.Dakao, Q1.
Every based on crab ... tamarind crab, steam crab, tang hoon crab etc etc.
Again, can't compared to your S'pore / M'sian cooking. But if you based here and somehow got craving for crab, guess tis is the nearest you can get.
Hope these give you guys more makan options.

Nice Singapore seafood restaurant.
Food very good standard, long beach and jumbo equivalent.
Must try their you-tiao with sotong inside.
Nice atmosphere.
Can get exotic seafood here like geoduck clam.
Staff mostly can speak either english, chinese or cantonese.
Of course price is on the high side for all these quality food and ambience.
Oh..they do set lunch also, I think its around 50,000 dong, not sure cos my guest paid...
