Partying like a rock star - when one is NOT a rock star and have to pay to be a rock star wannabe - is just too pathetic for myself. Just my own druthers of course! But then again, I AM paying even for the "privilege" of having just one gal to sit with me!! Ouch...sigh...LOL. SEAJ Last edited by SEAJ; 22-09-2013 at 01:21 PM. |

People forget how bad typhoons can be as we've not had super strong ones hitting major population centers in decades. Typhoon Usagi's wind speed will be similar to Typhoon Wanda' peak winds of 175 km/h (110 mph) in the South China Sea, and it made landfall on Hong Kong on September 1, 1962 producing gusts of 261 km/h (161 mph) which, in combination with a high storm surge, damaged thousands of huts and left 72,000 people homeless. Wanda left a total of 434 deaths, and it is estimated that an identical typhoon striking today would cause HK$2.6 billion ($335 million USD) in losses. Note that all figures are only for Hong Kong! The rest of China is not included as the mainland was not even in people's consciousness back then! SEAJ Last edited by SEAJ; 22-09-2013 at 03:24 PM. |

Re: Events In CP
Newbie here.
Just visited Changping sometime ago.... Interesting place I must say. I visited this Bandao Spa (forget the exact name...but it is near an eatery with the same name...). Walk in and say I want to try this volcano rock treatment as was stated at the door poster. Think was 288rmb. I was usher in and they put this wrist tag on me. Then I was in front of a locker and ok....looks like have to strip n put my stuffs in there. Done and I wrapped myself with the provided towel....walk towards a big shower ground....and it is damn big.....got a big jacuzzi in the centre. But the water looks greenish n mouldy....so didnt went in there. Shower is the open cubicle...ok...shampoo n foam provided. So this is where I was lost.....so where to go for the volcano treatment.... Sure there are a few chaps that looks like attendent...but they dun look friendly. Walk around the shower ground area...saw a steam room, toilet,....thats about it. Not sure who to ask and I must say my mandarin is not up to par. In the end.....I walk back to my locker and signal to the chap to help because I cant open it with my wrist tag. Change back to my clothing...walk out to the counter....and I was promptly charged 88rmb!! Paid up unwillingly because looks like a very expensive shower. Walk out dazed....LOL. Did I miss out something? |

You should go to the resting area or signalled to one of the waitress to get the customer service staff to you the 88 sauna fee should be waived if you spend above a certain amount such as take up the volcano treatment. |

Bro,,, You silly boy! The shower area is on (I think 4 level). After you have done with the shower, steam bath, dry sauna, the jaccuzzi or back scrap (charged service). You should change to a set of pyjamas like clothing provided by the (establishment) locker attendant. Men is one colour and ladies is another colour. After you have changed, you should be directed to the upper level. One level up on the 5th floor. On this level, it is the resting area where you will find lots of lazy-boy seats for you to rest. There is an individual TV/Computer with one chair. Note: Not all have a computer. A service personnel, it might be a waiter or a waitress, will ask you what would you like to consume, both drinks and fruits (1st round is free). You can just relax there, catch up on your wechat, whatsapp or other communication media or serve the internet to check what is the latest posting on this forum. Free WI-FI is provided and comes inclusive with the price. You can also call for foot massage, manicure or pedicure or ear-candling. When you are ready for your whatever massage, just press the service button and tell the service personnel what you want. For RMB88.00 - It's the minimum spending/payment for this establishment. Due to your lack of Mandarin and the lousy attendants in the locker room. They must have thought and assumed that you ONLY wanted a shower and a steam. IMHO - It's nobody's fault and partly yours and the attendants fault because you didn't ask and they simply could not careless and assumed everything. Anyway, what's RMB88.00 for someone who doesn't speak Mandarin in China? I think you will be charged the same amount in your currency in your Country for such facilities. Hee hee hee, if you have visited Silver Holiday, you might think it's a swimming pool who overcharged. The main area of Silver Holiday is on the 3rd floor which you will have access by an elevator.

Re: Events In CP
Good thing for Hong Kong that Usagi took a more northerly path than forecast.
Approximately 140 km North of hong kong instead of a direct hit - and by the time it hit the surrounds of Chang Ping it had already significantly weakened overland. SEAJ |

Point is SEAJ, while one needs to start somewhere, I would put SBF-connected share of CP market at no more than 3%. So even if all SBF forumers answer your clarion call, it won't prick the elephant. Btw, the totally uninspiring responses enjoined so far would have reduced a lesser man to utter frustration. They either don't take time out to read, or are not sophisticated enough to grasp the message you were trying to impart. I mean, no where did you mention anything about 'rights' and yet this was raised. Your exhortation to limit oneself to pick one mm per sitting for the overall good, was countered with an irrelevant everyone has a right to their partying style. Which of course was not even within the ambit of this discourse. Never mind. Keep persisting for the common good, old chap
