SINGAPORE: A group of workers from China have been charged with rioting at a construction site off Choa Chu Kang.

Liu Zhiwen, 44, Sun Jia Hong, 46, Liu Baoqiang, 27, Chong Hongbin, 25 are accused of punching and kicking seven other men on April 6 at about 3.15pm.

The alleged offence took place at the site for Rainforest Condominium.

The four are each on S$15,000 bail.

Their cases will be heard again on April 22.

For rioting, they face a maximum penalty of seven years' jail and caning.

Eleven foreign workers were charged in a district court on Tuesday with rioting at a construction site in Choa Chu Kang.

Four Chinese nationals aged 25 to 46 are alleged to have been part of an unlawful assembly, in which one or more of them punched and kicked seven Bangladeshi nationals at the construction site for Rainforest Condominium off Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3 at 3.17pm on Sunday.

The seven Bangladeshi nationals, aged 20 to 28, are accused of being in an unlawful group in which one or more used violence by punching and kicking the four Chinese nationals.

In a statement, the police said officers from Jurong Police Division arrived at the scene and found a 26-year-old man injured. He was given medical attention.
