Dr Mahathir: What's wrong to ask questions if it involves people's money? BY AKIL YUNUS PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) believes that his questions have still gone unanswered despite Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s television interview last week. The former prime minister said he knew he was alone, but felt that it was not wrong in asking such questions, if it involved the people’s money. “Many have asked me. I cannot answer. So I ask those who can. “I believe if you have an interview on TV, it is because you want to tell everyone, not just me,” said Dr Mahathir on his blog chedet.cc on Monday. Dr Mahathir denied being angry with the Prime Minister for not building the crooked bridge linking Johor and Singapore, saying that he would not have campaigned for Najib’s victory in the 2013 general election (GE13). “If I was angry because of the crooked bridge, I would have called for Najib’s resignation before GE13. Instead, I campaigned for his victory,” he said. In his post, Dr Mahathir again brought up the question of 1MDB funds, which he said was reportedly being parked in the Cayman Islands, and the murder of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu. “With regard to Altantuya, I am merely asking who gave Sirul (Azhar Umar) the order. I am not accusing Najib. Normally, the police or army won’t kill someone unless they are attacked or ordered to,” he said. Dr Mahathir added that all the support being voiced for Najib did not mean they back the 1MDB. “They are scared. Some have asked me about 1MDB and want me to do something about it. “Now, there are even threats against those who don’t voice their support for Najib,” Dr Mahathir added, in apparent reference to his son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who has been told to resign if he does not state his support for the Prime Minister Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
