A Malaysian FT was sentenced to 4 weeks in jail for secretly filming his housemate in the shower using his mobile phone.

Francois Tan Vien Weyn, 24, had filmed his 24 year old flatmate while she showered on March 19 last year.

Tan had been sharing the HDB flat with five others including the victim.

The court heard that Tan had a fetish for voyeurism and he had been watching pornography for quite some time.

Over time, his urges were not satisfied by simply watching pornography and so he decided to start taking videos of his female housemate while she showered.

Tan had committed the acts by hiding his phone with the video recorder on in the cabinet under the sink in the woman’s ensuite bathroom.







Tan knew that the woman would use that bathroom to shower as it was the one inside her bedroom.

His phone had captured a 9 minute video of her showering in that one incident on March 19.

Having successfully filmed his flatmate, he decided to try again on June 1st the same year.

However, this time, the victim noticed the mobile phone. She got one of the other housemates to help her seize Tan’s other electronic devices and she made a report to the police.

Investigations found the 9 minute clip from March among other questionable videos and he was charged with 4 charges.

Tan admitted to 1 of the 4 charges and was sentenced to 4 weeks in jail.

He could have been jailed 1 year for the offence.
