PM: Opposition doesn’t articulate a vision for S’pore
An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:
At the PAP rally today (7 Dec), PM Lee said that the next General Election will be a “deadly serious fight”. He said, “It will be about who forms the government, not how many seats the opposition gets.” And it will be about whether Singapore continues to have a First world Government, and not about a First World Parliament, said Mr Lee, taking a dig at the WP’s theme on moving towards a First World Parliament at the last General Election in 2011. Mr Lee said that every seat in the next GE will be a national contest, not a local one. He also said that there are now different and louder voices in social media as well as the society. He said that some of these voices mean well while others try to mislead the public. He did not say which “voices” are the ones “misleading” others. He added that PAP is bringing different groups together and putting forth a vision for Singapore. He said that the vision will be “fair to all groups” as PAP is a “national party”. The opposition does not articulate a vision for Singapore because they are trying to avoid answering hard questions until they get elected, he said. He said that opposition parties have been asking Singaporeans to vote for them so that they can act as a check on the PAP. But for every one more “checker” in Parliament, Mr Lee said there would be one less “doer, thinker and leader” in the PAP Government. Rallying the 6,000 activists, Mr Lee said PAP will fight to win every constituency. He added that PAP has already identified many promising candidates and a few potential office holders for the next GE. Twelve members of PAP CEC were also elected by about 2,000 cadres today, with 2 additional CEC members co-opted. The 12 members who were voted into the CEC from a shortlist of 19 are: http://www.tremeritus.com/2014/12/07...ion-for-spore/ Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
