Re: All you need to know about HIV
HIV symptoms doesnt appear a day after the infection so if you had protected sex done properly then i dont think PEP is necessary

Re: All you need to know about HIV
Hi bro wanted some advice if hives are symptoms of STDs? The hives come and go during a day probably last around 2-3hours (w/o medication). Hives is at hands, body and legs (mostly around thighs and ass).

Re: All you need to know about HIV
urticaria can be triggered by a virus infection. so the simple answer will be yes it is a symptom of STDs including HIV infection.
however if your rash only appear and is gone (without med) in a day then i dont think you have to worry for now.. could be just a allergy reaction from food or the environment... monitor.. |

You can do such research about HIV yourself, when I went to an anonymous test for HIV, there was a consultation with a volunteer, he also told me so and I was quite stunned, as I always thought HIV/AIDS is a death sentence, but its far from it. |

Even if it's generic PEP / PrEP medication course also should suffice, no? If cost-wise is a concern. As in instead of brand-name Truvuda, etc... I know you would still need to actually see a doctor first, in order to get a prescription for PEP / PrEP course. I also know that even if you want, doesn't mean you will definitely get it (the prescription for say a PEP course), even if you are a suitable candidate for PEP (for e.g. engaging in paying for sex, etc). Need to pass some metabolic panel tests first or something like that. Like blood test and urine test. Also, maybe might just wanna consider going the legal i.e. Geylang brothels, legal brothels etc route. FLs... Be it Chinese or Thai or etc... Not as safe I suppose...? Anyways, DSC @ Kelantan Lane, the cost-wise for, say, to get PEP, seems reasonable too, I suppose... P.S. If you don't mind me asking, any possible reasons why it might have slipped? Was it a poor fit? When it was placed over your erected penis, was it placed on properly? Including doing the pinch test at the tip too.

But I really, really think you should be fine. I really hope that is the case too, in the end. So far, does the course of medications (I believe they give about one month), any side effects? Lastly, I'm not a doctor nor a medical professional, so I can't really comment on the symptoms you've described. But I feel the symptoms you've described should be due to something else and/or maybe much less serious in nature too. Anyways, you had mentioned that you had just come back from a very hot country recently too.

Re: All you need to know about HIV
i am a abit of a prude and i dont support commercial sex... dont know much about geylang so i can't comment on that
however when it comes to PEP and PrEP....IMHO so long you have protected sex (no condom break etc) there is no need to do it regularly. Quote:

Re: All you need to know about HIV
I read online, especially at Poz forum, that frottage is zero risk , frottage in the sense of genital rubbing.
This is a weird question but is it possible for the male to be unaware of penetration while in an upright position? Here is the scenario: both parties were in the shower and the Commercial sex worker was vigorously rubbing the front of her body against the guy, both bodies soapy. I understand that frottage is likely but in that kind of position, it is extremely unlikely for the guy to be unaware if the tip of his penis had at least penetrated the vulva, right? I mean surely there would be some feeling right ? |

Re: All you need to know about HIV
Hi @DoctorTan and @Big Sexy,
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insights with us here. I was reading up on HIV and wanted to check if it would be possible for one to get infected with HIV from a FL between the 3 week to 3 month window where the viral load is large enough to be transmitted but yet HIV tests will not be able to detect it. So if the FL was infected with HIV in the past 2 weeks but does not show any symptoms and came to SG to work, there is a chance that she will show a negative HIV report but have the virus in her that could be transmitted to her customers if they opt for raw. In which case, the FL showing a negative HIV report may not mean that she is HIV negative, and customers should not take the negative HIV report as a 100% assurance that the FL is “clean”. Is my above understanding correct? Pardon any inaccuracies in my understanding as I am still reading up and understanding more about HIV for my general health and safety. Would appreciate your views and insights on this, thank you |

Re: All you need to know about HIV
Hi Dr Tan & all,
Would like to seek advice on this matter. Was on prep medication for around 5 days then had unprotected sex with a massage lady. I understand that 7 days before sex is the optimal period; will 5 days have some level of protection against HIV as well? |

Re: All you need to know about HIV
Hi Dr Tan, would like to check with you on the risk/possibility of HIV transmission from insertive (unprotected) oral sex when you hare micro tears on your foreskin (caused due to tight-ish foreskin).
This is of course assuming the lady has sores, bleeding gums or some kind of STD in her mouth. There seems to be limited to no medical literature around this, would like to get your opinions on it if possible. Understand there's theoretical and real life risks, would be nice if you can share in that context too. Thank you very much in advance! |
