i think some1 should open an island called "Aids Island" for all the sufferers to live in...i not outcast them...but they can live better together and can even have raw sex together...then slowly after 10 years or more... no more aids in the world...and that island becomes a historical site

Re: HIV-death sentence

The risk of HIV infection from hand jobs is essentially non-existent, even if you had microscopic cuts on your penis. As for oral sex, the risk is very low. Studies have also shown that it's the person giving pleasure who is more at risk that someone who is receiving it. Nonetheless, it doesn't mean no risk at all. So, keep those condoms handy.

Re: HIV-death sentence

That's like the leper colony concept of old. This sounds like the extreme practice of containment of a virus. And on paper is workable and works.

But problems abound. Including one big one. Would someone with a dreaded disease want to spend the rest of his or her life on an island far away from his/her loved ones whose support he or she needs? Bearing in mind that most HIV+ people want to remain anonymous and that some don't even know they are HIV+...how will we know that 'all' HIV+ people have been put away for containment?

I suppose one can argue that every single person on earth is put away and restricted from doing drugs with needles, getting blood transfusion and having sex (protected or unprotected) for 6 weeks or more--and then after that, get tested with the ELISA test for HIV status, before being put back into circulation or put in a containment place for the rest of his or her life.

<sigh> Not possible lah. So the best way is to develop a vaccine and a cure (real cure, not just retroviral drugs).

Re: HIV-death sentence

Just to share some of the misconception between HIV and AIDS

STD-AIDS , some important notes

1. Not all HIV carriers develop AIDS
2. But once AIDS is full-blown, it is considered incurable & fatal
3. Victims usually die within 5 years after full-blown AIDS is diagnosed

Symptoms - HIV infection (early stage)

1. None. HIV has an incubation period of 5 -10 years, a condition that normally last for many years

2. an HIV carrier is highly infectious walaupun without symptoms

Middle stage

1. symptoms resembling those of glandular fever (high fever, swollen lymph nodes)

2. recurring flu-like symptoms (cough, fever, loss of appetite, body aches, tiredness, weakness)

3. recurring mouth or skin infections (due to a decreased resistance level)

4. sweats

5. significant weight loss

Full-blown AIDS (final stage)

1. Chronic diarrhoea

2. Lung infections (e.g. pneumonia, pulmonary or disseminated tuberculosis) marked by breathing difficulty, chest pain & cough

3. Kaposi's sarcoma, a skin cancer marked by pink/purple raised skin patches or nodules

4. brain infection or cancer, marked by disorientation, fever, headaches, nausea, and blurred vision

5. skin infection, usually around the anus, genitals & mouth

Re: HIV-death sentence

congrats on your negative result bro.

What you were really suffering from, was anxiety disorder. Kant cheong spider.

Contracting HIV aint so easy, otherwise the human race would have been wiped out a long time ago!

Do read up more on HIV/Aids. Make yourself more knowledgeable.

check www.thebody.com

it has tons of info and Q&As.. Worth the read. For sure, and after reading the questions, you start to realise most of the people there are posting because they are just anxious..

Well said bro... I really respect Dr Robert Fransinco from thebody.com despite being a sufferer himself, he takes great pains to bring comfort and professional help to people with WWS(worried well syndrome), I was thinking the odds of me getting HIV if I wear a condom was significant too, now I know that as long as the cap was properly used and never break chances are dead damned remote.
