Singapore Poly student dies in stabbing incident in China

SINGAPORE: A second—year student from Singapore Polytechnic has died in a pub brawl in China’s Heilongjiang province. Three people have been arrested.

China’s Xinhua news agency reported on September 25 that 19—year—old Chia Ming Jin and nine other students had gone to a karaoke lounge in Jiamusi city.

They were in China on a six—week industry attachment that began on September 6.

The group had invited a girl, who also brought her friends along.

Xinhua said a fight later broke out and Chia was stabbed in the right leg.

He died of massive bleeding in hospital.

His body will be brought back to Singapore. Chia’s father and uncle are in Jiamusi to arrange for the return of the body.

Singapore Poly said it is counselling the students who were at the lounge.

But they and their parents said they want to remain in the city for the rest of the attachment. — CNA/vm

without experience cheonging in CHINA pub sure will get ito trouble.
even in shenzhen, dongguan, or any part of china, not all pub are adviceable to be visited by foreigners. some clubs and pubs are famous for taking drugs.

strongly advice all yongsters with no knowledge of china, avoid such outlets at all cost. If you want to sing a song, go to those that simple sing songs only such as K BOX style.

Was in HangZhou about 1.5 years back.

Visited 1 KTV with MMs...

Ended up kena chop carrot and confrontation with the staffs there.

Almost cannot walk out of the place until my china associate agree to pay the demand... Whopping SGD3K+ for 4 cartons china beer and a couple of MMs...

From that day onwards, whenever I go China, will only cheong with people who are familiar and knows the KTVs...

The good old saying...龙游浅水遭虾戏...so dun be hero...

Wow so unfortunate, haiz. .

Just a leg wound and he bled to death from that. Maybe he could have been saved if they had better facilities. Afterall it was a provincial hospital. Not apportioning blame to anyone here. My condolences to the family.

The thing is when you cheong in the PRC, dun be too hao lian. It is not like in SG, the most you get into a pushing match then the bouncers come. In China, they have access to guns and can seriously slit your throat in front of everyone and no one will come forward to help you.

Remember, cheong low profile, f**k high profile.

I never chiong alone when outstation. Always chiong with someone familiar with the place. Be it KTV, red light district etc.
