Malaysia : Mobile phone shop robbed of phones worth RM10,000 Read more: Mobile phone

JOHOR BARU: A sales assistant in a mobile phone shop did not wait around to question if it was a real or fake gun when an armed man entered the shop here on Saturday and made off with hand phones of various brands worth more than RM10,000.

In the 5pm incident in Taman Setia Indah here, the man clad in a raincoat and helmet, walked into the premise pretending to be a customer. When the sales assistant approached him, he pulled out a gun.

Fearing for her life, the woman, in her 20s, quickly helped the suspect to fill up his bag with handphones.

The incident was captured by a closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) and posted on the social networking site, Facebook.

Some who had commented on Facebook thought that it looked like the suspect was using a fake gun.

Johor Baru selatan district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainuddin Yaacob said the woman was not hurt in the 30-second robbery.

Zainuddin did not dismiss the allegation that it could be a toy gun judging by the way the suspect had held the weapon during the robbery.

The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal code for armed robbery. -- Bernama
