TWO DEAD AND THREE INJURED AFTER TRYING TO RETRIEVE MOBILE PHONE FROM TOILET .node-article .field-name-ad-box-in-article {float: left;margin: 15px 15px 10px 0;}.node-article .field-tags{clear: both;} Post date: 9 Jun 2014 - 7:39pm The mobile phone dropped into the open cess pit beneath the toilet causing people to jump in to look for the brand new 2,000 yuan (S$400) phone. Another three people were injured as they fainted trying to rescue those that had already lost consciousness in the disgusting hole. Local reports say the incident came about when a young woman in Xinxiang city, Henan, accidentally dropped her phone into the toilet on Wednesday. Her husband quickly leapt into the hole to retrieve the phone but could not breathe. Then her mother-in-law dived in afterwards to save him. Yet she also suffered the same fate. The young woman frantically jumped in after them and passed out too. While her father-in-law called for neighbours to do something. He jumped in, keeping his head close to the top so he could breathe, as two others dived in too far and also lost consciousness. One neighbour who jumped in later told local reports: “The smell was too strong. I lost consciousness before I could see anything." Other villagers eventually used a rope to pull all six people out of the pit. But the husband and mother-in-law, who had a pulse when they were pulled out, died in hospital after waiting an hour for an ambulance. It is believed they spent more than five minutes unconscious in the vile pit. Doctors confirmed the two had suffocated. According to Chinese blog Shanghaiist, the husband's cousin said: “Two lives have gone in five minutes and my cousin’s wife is still in coma, leaving a partially-paralysed old man and a one-year-old son at home. “What are we supposed to do?” *Article first appeared on http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/latest-news/382910/Two-dead-and-three-in...
