Local Ringing Tone while Phone Off

Hi Everyone,

I am not sure if this is the right folder to post.
If I am wrong, pardon me and point me to right channel.

One of my female friend went Macau.
She took her mobile along but did not switch it on for the whole trip.

I called her (not knowing when she will be back) and her phone rang and i heard a Local Ringing Tone.
Nobody picks up.
Several attempts were made and nobody picks up (confirmed local ringing tone).
During the last try, Someone cuts off the line while it was ringing.
Thereafter, the phone was off.
All these attempts were made during afternoon.

When I checked back with her, she was shocked because she only touched down in Singapore during late evening.

Anybody here knows if such occurrence indicates that somebody has planted a bug or software in her phone?

Any experts here?

And if so, anyway to confirm PLUS solution to rectify the problem?

Note: Her phone was left(dropped) in a Taxi 2 weeks ago.
Taxi driver kept her phone and she managed to retrieve back her phone from the Taxi driver 2 days later.

There could be a variety of reasons why it is a local ring tone and not when it is overseas ring tone.

All smartphones can be programmed to do CALL FORWARDING if not contactable, or after certain number of rings, etc.. The number forwarded could be anywhere, local or overseas..

Hong kong has the same ring tone. Not all country has that too...too sound,

assuming dat she is really in macau during that period of time... the possibilities are: -

1. the call forwarding / call divert function is turned on. some might turn this on for some reason (e.g. when uncontactable) and she might have forgotten to turn it off. so when the phone is turned off when she is in macau then it may have been diverted.

the extreme reasons could be: -

1. yes, her sim card may have been duplicated during the time that she had lost the phone. this is possible.

2. if she had lost her id before, someone might have registered a new line under her name (happenend to me many many years back when i lost my ic).

and of course the last possibility is she might not be in macau after all.

If your friend has always been diverting her phone to her office extension when she is not available, then when she off her phone, all calls will be diverted back to her office extension.

You said that when she was in Macau, she had offed her phone. Therefore, all calls will be diverted to her office extension.

This is a trick I always use whenever I crossed over to boleh land for a quick afternoon shower. When OC call my mobile, it will divert to office and she will not hear the boleh land ring tone.

And the phone cannot get through after you ringed her a few times, this is so most properly her colleague hang up her phone so it will not disturb others working in the office.

Bro, I'm sorry to tell you, she is probably doing something behind your back. When you go overseas for business, which company will not re-imburse for overseas call? If she is important enough for the company to send her overseas, she is important enough that she must remain contactable, so it doesn't make sense that she would switch her phone off. Maybe try to check her passport to see if really got Macau chop or not? Good luck bro!

its common, my phone will also have ringing tone even though my mobile phone is off. what is the provider?

In our world now where our mobile phones are also watsapp, facebook, emails, wechat and all and where wifi exists practically everywhere and she turns off her phone when she is overseas....Sounds like either your friend is from the year 2004 or you posted this question 10 years too late..

If she worried aout phone being planted with spyware than ask her to reformat her phone. After finished off her mobile phone and try calling her, if still ringing even when its off thsn better check for phone being diverted or sim card being duplicated.
