CAMPINAS, BRAZIL — A group of Brazilian doctors have published an academic paper in the journal Advances in Urology in which they claim the sexual position "woman on top" or "cowgirl" is one of the most likely ways the male partner can suffer a penile fracture.

Altogether, five sexual positions were identified as most likely to lead to this rare, but not rare enough, phenomenon during which ligaments in the penis either tear or rupture, usually causing a loud "cracking" sound as well as significant swelling and considerable pain.

Placing the penis between a woman's breasts and thrusting, an act known by a variety of unprintable names, is also high on the list of dangerous behaviors as one slip can lead to disaster. Other high-risk actions include "reverse cowgirl" as the angles of the pelvic bones are not aligned in the same way as face-to-face sex. Should the woman bring her full weight down in the wrong manner, a penile fracture could occur.

Having "doggy style" or rear entry sex also made the list as over-excited thrusting can lead to the accidental penetration of the woman's anus, which could break the man's penis as well as cause the woman a great deal of discomfort.

Finally, the scientists also warned against over-vigorous masturbation by a partner, which can twist the male member in such a way that can lead to a penile fracture.

While face-to-face sex accounted for a slightly lower percentage of penile fractures, it is still possible to break your penis while engaging in the "missionary position." You therefore have two choices: don't have sex, or thrust a bit more gently if you don't want to experience the distasteful sensation of a penile fracture.

DONEGAL, IRELAND — A man from the Irish town of Donegal has recounted the horror he endured following a penile fracture, more commonly called a broken penis.

Alan says a local hospital began sending a nurse to his home to change the bandaging which only added to his humiliation. Luckily however, three months or so down the road Alan is recovering well physically, but his emotional scars may take longer to heal.
