Thumbs up ESM Goh Brings The Fight To Aljunied GRC! PAP Interested To Serve Aljunied Residents!

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

SINGAPORE: The People's Action Party (PAP) "remains very interested” in the welfare of Aljunied residents, said Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong on Sunday (Aug 16).

Mr Goh was speaking to reporters at a coffeeshop in Hougang Street 21 after a walkabout. He was seen with possible PAP candidates for the Aljunied Group Representation Constituency (GRC) – Mr Victor Lye, Mr Chua Eng Leong, Ms Chan Hui Yeh, Mr K Muralidharan Pillai and Mr Shamsul Kamar. Special advisor to chairman Lim Boon Heng was also present at the walkabout.

When asked if the PAP members seen on the ground on Sunday will be the PAP team fielded for Aljunied GRC, Mr Goh said that he will "leave it (to the) party to decide".

Mr Goh said he was at the walkabout to give “moral support” to the PAP team, which has been “working very hard” in the last few years. “The PAP hopes that (they) will be given a chance to serve (residents) again,” he said.

“My message therefore is first to the PAP voters that we are very much interested in trying to serve you … we (will) address whatever concerns you may have.”

Earlier on Sunday, Workers’ Party chairman Sylvia Lim announced that its Aljunied GRC team will remain intact to contest the upcoming GE. Besides Ms Lim, the team includes WP chief Low Thia Khiang, Mr Chen Show Mao, Mr Muhamad Faisal Manap and Mr Pritam Singh.

In the 2011 General Election, the WP defeated the PAP team in Aljunied GRC, winning 54.72 per cent of the vote.
