No Smoking please!

This is my very short contribution to my latest trip to H City. Sorry as I would not be writing on girls or other stuff. Most of what I know already written here anyway. This is relying an experience that happened to me here.

My friend and me went to this karaoke at Hatyai central with our puyings.Instead of going to the VIP rooms,we chose to sit in the hall. Anyway the hall always no people so we can still sing to our hearts content.This is my 2nd time there. The first time I went also sit in the hall about 8 mths ago.

As we went a bit early, the DJ was not there yet so we had our drinks, chit-chat and smoke. Soon the DJ reached, we chose our songs and sing. When I was into my 2nd song, suddenly police arrived and asked me to stop. Walao! I cheong H city so many times, first time got police come catch me. We were quite surprised and shocked even.

The crime we did was "smoking in a public area"!! KNN...the hall had ashtray on every table. Anyway they spoke in length with the lady manager. The lady manager told us repeatly that it was ok then she called her boss.

Soon the police (about 4 of them - walao like catching big time gangster) told all of us to go back to the police station.So they lead 4 of us into their police car. Walao first time I sit police car in any country. Lucky not so many people there at that time...so paiseh...

They sit me and my friend in a room and our puyings waited outside. KNN...all the police try to sian our girls asking for their hp number..hahaha...

Lucky for me and my friend, the girls were not underaged and both had ICs.

We waited nearly half an hour when they type and type on their PC. Then they brought out what I guess is their manuel and showed us a law stating we cant smoke in public area. Ofcourse we explain to them that we didnt know cause the place had ashtray all over the tables and no one from the mgt informed us.

They said someone called them and complain to them so they had to take "action" So I asked them what happened now. In a mixture of his poor english and my poor thai, the result is we must pay a fine. By the time, we were so tired of sitting in the room and wasting time so we also don't want explain anymore. We knew what they wanted. So we negotiate for a price. He say have to ask his boss and get back to me.

By this time, my girl called his boss so the boss of the farm came down. He spoke with the police and negotiate for us. So we paid and the boss drove us back to hotel.

I must say this boss quite a nice guy. He is a thai chinese so speak well in chinese to us too.

Both me and my friend bought duty free ciggarettes from Changi airport. I told my friend we now pay taxes to thai garmen rather than sillypore garmen.

Ironically, I was never caught for breaking any smoking laws in sillypore but now caught in hatyai. To think the first time I step into this smiling land many years ago, one of my best enjoyment was smoking in a air-con restaurant after having my meal.

Well, it was an experience and it was not a hugh sum so we continue to enjoy the rest of our days here.

Since we are on the topic of law, I do like to ask some of the seniors here what is the "legal" age for the farm girls meaning both the BKK and H police wont catch? I still see some very young 18 and 19 year olds. They might be even younger as maybe OKT lying to me.

Those from far north in the mountains (burmese etc) who had no IC can no longer work but it seems now they found a new solution. That is to have a work permit. I was told it is IC but someone who knows thai later told me it is actually an work permit which means they cant actually work in this line.

Then the girls admitted to me that if they were caught, all they have to do is to say the guy is real boyfriend and not a customer-girl relationship.

I do wonder if that actually works because once the police are on to you, I doubt they will accept that explanation.

Last of all, all cheongster do cheong with care.

The feeling that LOS gave me now is that it is not so cheongster friendly as in the past. I will not be going into the forum so often once I am back in sillypore so do forgive my late late replies.

Some additional information for cheongsters.

When you come out of the road from Hatyai palace, on the left is 7-11. On the right after andrew karaoke, there is a new internet shop. Quite cheap, only 10 bht for half hr and 20bht for 2 hrs. You also do not need to worry about many people see you go sammyboy forum...hee

Tried "Hong kee" seafood for 1st time. Quite nice.

Across Andrew karaoke is SKY. After u walk through the road viewing all the farms, can go to the end and many small restaurants to eat.

There is a famous bah Kuet Teh and dim sum. At the end of that stretch of restaurant opp Hatyai Neo hotel is a new place (I think it is new) that sells nice Loh Mee, Char Kway teow etc. I quite like the Char Kway Teow there. Very cheap too.

The official fine was $2k baht each. We negotiated to pay them off at $2000 for 2 but they said no. So we tried $3k but in the end they still say NO! Only thing is they returned the IC and the cig boxes. We did not need to record or sign anything and they let us off immediately.

It was so funny when all of them tried to take photos and ashes - one big wayang show.At the station, they also offer coffee and all smiling as if tonight they caught fish. They ask the puyings again and again as if hoping to find them underage or no ic.

The karaoke boss who helped us is from Heng Heng karaoke from channivate.

One more additional info - there is a wanton mee stall behind old sakura.Nice and cheap place to eat too.

i think the 'police' might have aim you and yr fren very long time liao...
coz i never kena this stuff even i am doing some 'illegal' stuff in hdy lei..
