Thumbs up Chaos at airport after 13 pilots reported sick on Tuesday. Guess the airline?

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

PETALING JAYA - Hundreds of passengers were reportedly left stranded at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) after 13 AirAsia pilots reported sick on Tuesday (Dec 1).

Some flights were cancelled and others delayed, forcing passengers to spend the night at the airport, The Star Online reported on Wednesday.

While most affected flights were domestic, an international flight reported to have been cancelled was to Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport, said the report.

AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes wrote on Twitter that 13 pilots came down with flu, thus resulting in the flight disruptions.
The Star reported that the flight schedule became chaotic after flights were re-timed. Some passengers were told they were moved to other flights, which were later cancelled.

Some affected passengers vented their frustration on social media. One of them tweeted "for the 'claim' record purposes, my ak6304 shift to ak6323. 12 hours delay 3.15 pm to 1.15 am." Another tweeted "AK 6323 Langkawi -KL.. Delay from 1515 till now 2047 still no news. Very bad image to the country. Typically a bad management".

The flight cancellations and delays came a day after the release of an investigation report on AirAsia flight QZ8501 which crashed last December while travelling from Surabaya in Indonesia to Singapore, killing all 162 people on board.

The report said the pilots scrambled to resolve in mid-air a technical fault involving the rudder of the aircraft when they suddenly lost control of it.
