Man in RTD viral video shot dead

GEORGE TOWN: A car wash operator was shot dead outside a shop lot along Jalan Dato Keramat here earlier this morning.

In the 3.30am incident, Syed Amen Jainul Abdin, 46, was shot at while seated in the driver's seat of a Mercedes-Benz.

Police investigating the case say two assailants on a motorcycle had fired shots a point blank range.

It was learnt that Amen was shot on the arm, chest and head.

On new year's eve, the businessman had pleaded not guilty at the magistrate's court here for swearing at a Batu Uban Road Transport Department (RTD) officer.

He was accused to have said 'JPJ ***cau, dia orang semua makan rasuah' to a RTD officer last Nov.

Before being charged in court, Amen had released a video over his alleged mistreatment at the hands of the RTD.

It went viral after it was shared by the Malaysian Crime Awareness Campaign on its Facebook page.

A series of unfortunate events has appeared to have befallen Amen, as his car wash along Jalan Arratoon was nearly razed to the ground in 2014.
